I still thought it was pretty good game, bugs and all. Wasn't a pain to go through it again because it's one of those games you can beat stupid fucking fast if you already know what you're supposed to do.

Fair point, the problem here is that the buzzword “soulless,” could be next to a picture of AC in the Dictionary Dramatica.
AC was just an open world meme ape of SoT from the very beginning. I say this as someone who was more excited for AC1 than I had been for any game in a while at the time. And somehow (focus test cash grab) it performed even better than POP. I stopped buying them after 2 and they have slowly evolved into the most generic games of all time.

In any case, what kills it for me really is the shit combat. Puzzles and platforming are fine. The forced combat arenas just really kill it for me.

The stinger attack off a walljump and the double slash from jumping over an enemy are both pretty satisfying but yeah the combat is awful otherwise. I wish there were less mandatory combat sections because they suck the fun out of the game.
