This is the case for the gbc games yes, you have stuff like the deathday party. The ps1/pc/console games aren't afraid to make up a bunch of bullshit while loosely following the plot of the film though.
4 and beyond get increasingly more "movie tie-in".

Ah, the GC, XboxFat and PS2 versions are the same. Except COS on PS2 lets you get on and off the Broomstick anywhere you choose rather than set points.

The PS1 versions are wonderful, I play them both every Christmas. I long for the PoA PS1 game that was supposedly almost done before being canned to turn up one day.

I did the same because I read the books before I saw the films user. I also read the 2nd book first (for some reason), so I had to make up what characters that weren't introduced in that book looked like, because they weren't described.

I played it, it's ridiculous that they even attempted it. It's basically the same game as the other consoles but stripped down barebones because of course the gba can't handle running through a large 3d castle

except psp which is the litteral movie. Fucking Sony

I played the ps2 version later and while that version felt like a better game, I still will always remember the pc version best

The PS1 game were weird.
Like, Hogwarts was some insane place where monsters lived a door away from kids, and how quiet and lonely most of it was. Ghosts screaming their way through the halls. It would drive you to madness.
