Weren't people boasting and bragging for WEEKS, W E E K S that this game would absolutely flop guaranteed, no one wants the "nu formula", Color Splash flopped because of the nu formula and definitely not because of any external factors that I'm ignoring because it btfos my narrative, Mario spin-offs don't sell well anyway look at these Mario Tennis numbers reported a month after that game released it's proof they all flop, and if it DOES sell well it's only because of quarantine and it's on the switch there are no other games to play so that means gamers have no agency and will be forced to buy this game and it'll have low attach rate anyways and that'll be the proof no one wants the nu formula etc etc etc
>fastest selling game, period
Prepare to see muh low attach cope/goalpost shifting within the coming days
I don't remember people saying it wasn't going to sell well. Just that it would be shit. Which it is.
Gabriel Howard
Why do you guys care so much about sales?
For franchises in jeopardy of going on hiatus or dying like Metroid or Onimusha then yeah, looking at the sales is pretty important for determining the series' future. But for Mario and Zelda games? Naughty Dog cinematic shooters? Who gives a shit, they'll be pumped out forever and the trajectory they take will be based on the whims of company executives.
Michael Rodriguez
>FASTEST SELLING GAME LAUNCH of (month)
Logan Reyes
Sales were definitely brought up pre-release. Everyone would clutch TTYD's 10% attach on a system that sold like shit while claiming that TOK will flop if it can't beat that 10% attach, even though its system has sold far more and thus 10% is a higher bar to match.
Nathan Phillips
>Weren't people boasting and bragging for WEEKS, W E E K S that this game would absolutely flop guaranteed, No, we were saying it was going to be dogshit but that braindead normalfaggots would buy it anyway because they mindlessly consume anything, thus further cementing the death of paper mario. Something very similar happened with Pokemon SwSh.
We also predicted retards such as yourself would try to brag about sales numbers because you know deep down its a shit game. Whenever you bring up gameplay, originality, etc, you get BTFO by anons absolutely (and rightfully) shitting on this lazy pile of shit, so you deflect to meme sales figures that the average person should never give a fuck about, because thats all you have. You fail to realise that sales do not mean quality. It could be the highest grossing game in history and it would still be a fundamentally flawed, shit game. Again, this is the exact same defense retards used for Pokemon.
You know how this is going to go OP. We're going to absolutely massacre you again and prove beyond a doubt that this game is a sterile piece of fucking trash, and you will spend all thread sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming about muh sales. Just cut the bullshit and move on, you souless husk.
Henry Moore
>Nintendo gets a successful game >Because the producer is an autist, they can't ever have anything like it ever again Why?
Brayden Long
It's been proven that almost every game sells well on the Switch.
Aiden Wright
Nah, there were people saying it would flop for sure because CS was a disaster. It might not have been you, or you're just in mid-cope, but it was definitely brought up. If it actually did flop, you would be bragging about how the retards should have saw it coming because CS flopped.
Asher Williams
>We're going to absolutely massacre you again Turbo autism. Imagine attempting to speak for a group on Zig Forums of all places. May as well don a trip like the fag you are.
Zachary Carter
There have been flops on Switch, first party ones for sure. What are you talking about? People even brought up Crafted World and Tennis Aces (outdated) sales numbers to say it was proof even Mario titles can "flop".
Chase Diaz
Nah, the vast majority were saying that it was going to be dogshit but would sell anyway. Just because you like to cherry pick a few retards that thought otherwise to prove some arbitrary "point" about your abysmal game, really doesnt make it the general consensus. Again, nobody care about some stupid fucking sales figure. It does effect anyone, and its just you trying to equate sales to quality, which will never be the case.
Logan Roberts
People are downplaying the improvements we have gotten between games. Sticker Star into Color Splash was already a good one
But Color Splash intro Origami King was absolutely great. The game is practically in the same tier as the originals in terms of presentation and actually caring, even more so with the brand new ring system that actually works.
There’s literally no where but forward, they can only improve yet again and make continuous improvements that can eventually trump the originals if they bring back the RPG format.
I’m going to be honest, I would’ve made Origami King my absolute favorite In the franchise if it added more attack variety to the ring system, exp and OC characters.
As is, the variety comes from the puzzle solving and the enemies themselves(boo’s appearing and disappearing randomly), and especially with Bosses. And it’s fucking good. Give Partnera more options, rpg and it’s golden.
Otherwise I fucking love this game and is easily sharing third place with Super Paper Mario for me.
Colton Morris
Wakey Wakey Arlo’s coming And he’s going to like the game more then you people think.
>I would’ve made Origami King my absolute favorite In the franchise if it actually had the thing that made PM good What a brave take.
Aaron Garcia
>I love Paper Mario, but all the previous PM games are shit, only sticker star onward is good >and if you disagree you're just an entitled nostalgic manbaby >cope and seethe
I just can't understand this mindset, blind corporate worship like they're a religion or something. What are you getting out of it? Are they paying you? Does their holy scripture promise enlightenment if you attack people that criticize them? Help me understand this mindset.
William Kelly
How much did it sell? I looked up the article and it didn't state how many copies it's sold or how much it's made.
Your admitting TTYD is a pile of shit without it’s costumes and leveling up
Adrian Wright
Why should we care? Seriously, you fags cant defend your own game and have to default to e-celebs and fucking sales every time. That alone speaks volumes.
Hudson Evans
Not nessesarily Look at New Super Mario, you guys like to pretend those games are bad or SOULESS despite having what made the original games good
Origami King has qualities that trump the originals outside the two mentioned.
Colton Long
>TTYD is a shit RPG if it didnt have RPG mechanics Why yes retard, that is what I'm getting at.
Sebastian Wilson
>switch game outsells GameCube game WOAH REALLY?!?!
Ayden White
Sticker Star and Color Splash would still be a piece of shit because of their puzzle and gameplay problems. Having OC or even exp (color splash did) wouldn’t change that.
Aiden Howard
Calling out retards isn't corporate worship. Nothing in that OP is deepthroating Nintendo it's just dabbing on idiots.
>Being upset a game isn’t actually garbage >Being upset that we can continue in a new proper route with the spirit of the originals without mechanics holding it back
The absolute state
Hudson Miller
alot of hardliners came out and said its pretty good
Samuel Perez
TOK is an RPG with no leveling system that uses coins instead. Except that getting coins is infinitely easier in the overworld by refreshing loading zones, and is actually the optimal strategy. Thus there is once again no reason to ever fight minions. That leaves only the boss fights, which while somewhat fun, still severely lacks originality and flair like the initial PMs. The humor is still DUDE PAPER LMAO.
It is an RPG where its better to avoid combat 90% of the time. This is atrociously bad game design, full fucking stop. You cant defend this, so you point out other things that still really arent all that special. Until you can defend this, it will always be inferior to the original PMs at a fundamental level
Connor Gutierrez
Because if this one flopped too then they could officially kill Mario RPGs for good
Joseph Bailey
It's still not designed in a way that interests me, and Bug Fables's action commands lack the punch that TTYD had, as well as the fun of finding and executing stylish moves. I'd appreciate a port of TTYD and 64 to the Switch, since the Wii/Gamecube's being increasingly outdated hardware and buying from resellers is too expensive for mixed results.
Adrian Adams
>Calling out retards isn't corporate worship. He is literally praising a game because it sold well. You have to be an absolute retard to ever want a company to make money, when you don't get anything out of it.
Jeremiah Stewart
Good, end the charade already. They obviously have no interent in making a RPG and it will be forever sterile thanks to the mandate. If thats the case, then just make mainline mario games.
Jason Morris
>Weren't people boasting bragging-- "No", the general consensus was "it's gonna suck but idiots will eat it up anyway".
/thread based cringe sneed
Evan Walker
>I'd appreciate a port of TTYD and 64 to the Switch not likely, that want to pretend they never happened
Matthew Barnes
I wonder if they consulted anyone in the Zelda team for Purple Streamer.
Levi Cruz
>a shitty paper mario game sells well on a console that reported an incredible 26 million (so far) sales of a 6 year old port of fucking Mario Kart
wow im shocked
Parker Bailey
This game isn't an RPG to begin with.
Jonathan Perez
People said the economy is broken but I've been playing normally, buying collectibles, mostly avoiding fights unless it's a new enemy type (and since critics said you earn enough coins in the overworld) and I'm at world 3 and I barely have 1K coins. They scaled the prices of the accessories and collectibles appropriately enough, why are people saying its broken? Or is it only broken if I go out of my way to "grind" in the overworld by reloading zones? Who the fuck wants to do that?
Arlo somehow liked the beginning portion of the game, which most people thought was too slow. You can only imagine his reaction to the rest of the game.
Blake Perez
Best PM selling best numbers.
Benjamin Thompson
I am really enjoying this game, once I finish I kind of want to go back and play the older ones but the doorfags incessant whining has kind of put me off doing so, I suppose I can still play the 64, wii and wiiu games
Jacob Parker
It's almost as if being on one of the most popular platforms and being touted as "not as bad as Sticker Star or Color Splash and possibly on par with the original two" is enough to get people interested in buying it.
Carter White
There are 3 reasons why it artificially sold so well.
1. There is no competition on the Switch, forcing gamers with buyers remorse to buy inferior installments of old franchises. Animal Crossing, Pokemon S/S, Paper Mario and Zelda come to mind. There is a huge drought of worthwhile Switch exclusives unlike the all-star lineup of GCN games.
2. Switch Install base dwarfs the GCN because this generations children flock to portable Tablet experiences. Children are the main demographic for Nintendo products and since they are attracted to pretty colours they collect multiple renditions of the exact same system, "Lite", "Mini", "Nano", etc. and are more likely to break them when they bring them on car rides, go to the park or school and buy another one to replace their broken Switch with mom and dad's money.
3. Fuck video games
Jayden Cook
This post kills the TTYD fags hard
Jacob Murphy
This. The game is in second place for me, with 64 in first. If it literally just had exp and more attacks it would be perfect
Owen Collins

Nice blog post faggot
Oliver Martinez
Zig Forums claims every game will flop. Even when actual sales come out and it's X million copies sold in the first day/week/month retards here will still try to deny it.
