i never did get around to playing 3 after 2's ending, and i cant remember the reviews anymore
was it any good? i seem to remember it being the reason it being so long 4 hasnt been made

It's the studio that makes Forza Horizon. And that's it. That's literally all they've published. Microsoft for whatever reason decided to hand off Fable to the guys who make racing games. My sinking suspicion is that they will have no idea what they're doing and just make a shitty open world action adventure game.

That trailer was a massive disappointment. I don't associate frogs or fairies with the fable franchise

4 hasn't been made because Lionhead Studio, who made the original Fable games, closed in 2016. This game is being made by the studio that does the Forza Horizon series

It was decent but really let down by the menu system which made doing simple things a fucking chore

It wasn't much different than the second in the pvp aspect. the story was alright. had a dogshit ending that could have been better. 2 was better in every single way. biggest problem with all fable games is how short lived the story is. nothing to do once you beat it. no multiplayer either. they have a million ways to fuck this up like what happened with the fable vr shits and the one fable game they were going to release but didnt.

because the fable games that werent complete shit gained a cult following and the series has been disappointing since fable 3. its pretty much just hope that playground doesnt fuck it up like microsoft did every other time.

They still have all the assets from Fable Legends, the multiplayer live service Fable game that never got released. Apparently Lionhead kept missing deadlines for it and that's why they were shut down. They still had a ton of assets for it, and were apparently hopeful after Fable Legends got cancelled that they could recycle those into Fable 4, but instead Microsoft fired everybody.

Everything went to shit for Lionhead after Molyneaux left. Say what you want about him, he at least kept Microsoft at bay while he headed the studio. He was allowed to run the studio in his own way, and he allowed his staff a lot of creative freedom. That went away when he left, and Microsoft took a more firm hand with the studio, demanding that they make a multiplayer live service game and stop making single player games, even though single player was their bread and butter and what they'd won all their accolades for.

So my guess is Microsoft is seeing how single player games are doing very well for Sony, they're one of the main draws to the play station consoles. They have a whole stable of AAA single player games that have a lot of acclaim. And Microsoft went and closed down one of their most famous single player game studios in 2016. They can't even re-establish a successor to it because all the developers left to work for other small studios, they are no longer part of the Microsoft empire. That's why MS just tossed the Fable IP to Playground, along with probably all the unused assets from Fable Legends.

Considering this game is being made at the behest of Microsoft, who told Lionhead to make the extremely ill-advised Fable Legends that nobody wanted to work on in the first place, you can bet it probably will not be good. Knowing Microsoft they'll probably just tell them to make a shitty open world "sandbox" Fable game because that's what's all the rage right now.

Because even though they've only made Forza, every game they've made has been quality. Game making is game making, user. Doesn't matter that much, as long as you have appropriate writers and directors. On top of that, I'm sure they've hired great people who have previously made RPGs before.

Im not worried. In fact, Im excited cus it's one of MS's better devs handling it.
