People who say Hollow Knight is ugly are baiting, right?

contrarian. its a good looking game and one of the better indie titles for only $15

It's not ugly, but the artstyle gets in the way of itself

it's one of those shit indie pixel games, so no

go shill somewhere else

>pixel

It’s definitely not pretty

it literally looks like a super nintendo game retard

>the artstyle gets in the way of itself
Explain.

damn, I get it now

It's not ugly but it's just the same shit over and over.
>blue area
>green area
>grey area
And yes the hive and the crystal caves exist but both are incredibly small areas with barely anything to do.

it looks like a flash game lmao

i hope you dont recommend games to anyone either

Team Cherry just reused sprites from an old game jam game they made called Hungry Knight, you can find it on newgrounds

I don't like the artstyle.

It comes across as trying too hard to be dark souls with bugs.

looks like a shitty flash game

you forgot
>brown area
>black area

Calarts flash game

People like different things, faggot

what is that supposed to mean?

It directly affects the gameplay and exploration, it can cause you to not see your character or enemies sometimes or your attacks.

It insists upon itself

that's horseshit, the backgrounds are super detailed but the characters and projectiles are quite simple so they stand out

this is one of the dumbest post I have ever seen

these.
visually it's really nice, some choppy animation here and there but it generally looks great. However, locations need more visual identity to stand out, and foreground elements can become cumbersome as they block your view (found this especially bad around the crystal mines area)

It deters from itself

The colour scheme is blander than any given Metroid game save for the original Metroid II, and that's only because that one was monochrome because of the original Gameboy.

It's well executed for the art style, but the style itself is shit. The characters are all the usual zero detail indie shit for easier animation and the backgrounds remind me of mid-2000s Evanescence deviantArt photobashes with detail everywhere for detail's sake, it's not a pleasing aesthetic.

It's a reddit game
I dont have to explain myself.

>mid-2000s Evanescence deviantArt photobashes with detail everywhere
now I'm curious

Ori, Rainworld, and HK have excellent animations, so I highly doubt the b&w character designs were a way to cheap out on animations

Shit like pic related, an edgy teen's first time using Photoshop and just pilling on all the filters and effects

If the designs weren't so simple animating would be more expensive.
Are you retarded?

>If the designs weren't so simple animating would be more expensive.
that's not how it works, have you ever done sprite animation before?

>game about literal bugs collecting poo isn't ugly
shit game, cope consoomers

>Character wears bright white mask over a dark background
user, you might be blind.

It's true. Pic is the boss roster of Hollow Knight, how did FromSoft let Team cherry get away with it? this is absurd

I've never seen someone sum up my dislike for the HK artstyle so succinctly. Nice one.
