I think they made that white stripe ugly on purpose to drive the sales of digital games.

black and white font reminds me of those boring ass PAL covers from PS1/PS2 era

why are they using blue boxes again? too similar to PS4 games. switch it up.

Would be better if the box was pure white instead of blue.

Not bad and better than PS4 which just look like blurays but in a slightly worse color. PS1,PS2 and PS3 boxes are still better, although it's pretty close for PS3. Anyway all companies these days make them as cheap as possible to incite consoomers into buying digital which is more profitable for them. The golden age of boxes is far gone.

keeps all profits fully internal. No middleman, no manufacturing/shipping costs, no resale, people dependent on your pricing and sales. There's no reason a corporation wouldn't push this route, no matter how shitty it feels to many consumers.

They don't make money on the used market. Digital games can't be sold used.

I hate that they've been using the same font since the late PS3. Combined with the fact that graphical improvements from one console generation to the next aren't so impressive anymore, it's like they aren't even trying to hide the fact that consoles have just had a marginal improvement in performance for a long time now.
