Wii era gave us Brawl (the best Smash video game), Mario Galaxy (the best 3D Mario), and Skyward Sword (okay this is just a personal like).

But as a video game, as entertainment, it was leaps and bounds beyond its predecessors. Sure, titles that came afterwards improved on it, but the jump from Melee to Brawl in terms of fun content (again, outside the competitive environment) has yet to be outdone.

It's already too late, everything they have released this generation has been a massive disappointment yet they receive a tonne of praise because of nostalgia and the awful state the rest of the industry is in. The best thing about them was their true handheld hardware and they killed it.

Its first parties sucked, third parties were 99.7% trash, it was literally only good as a cheap emulator box that had 240p output for CRTs.

If you think that any other single player mode in smash comes close to SSE I'll be here all day.

Obv Smash is intended for multiplayer but having an actual campaign where we saw Nintendo's universe interact with each other was incredible. That's the shit of fanfiction, except we got it with actual quality.

I just want those fucking quality-of-life improvements, because the UI navigation is slow as fuck, interaction with any object or NPC requires trudging through 20 pages of monologue, and basically, it's cynically designed to artificially pad the gameplay hours to obscene lengths to make you think that the game has "depth".
