Ok so every obsidian game. I don’t find it preachy. One (1) character is preachy and the game ends by you saying “lol you are wrong, retarded, and preachy” then you kill her.

What's so pretentious about it? Its themes are pretty clear despite the cuts and unfinished content. This game had one of the more interesting portrayals of the Sith I have seen in SW media, and it pays a great deal of respect to the the old EU, like with the Korriban and Onderon sections and references to figures like Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma.
Kreia may have been a mouthpiece to Avellone's own views on the SW universe, but that didn't come at the cost of disparaging its own setting, something newer movies and games are far too happy to do.
In fact, it's still baffling to me that people still believe Kreia's ultimate goal was to kill the Force. She spells it out to you that all her threats and bluster were to get you to Malachor V, have you slay and surpass her like in common Sith fashion. She did all of that to have you carry out a new Jedi/Sith order free of the errors of their previous selves.

Kreia never intended to kill the force, she needed to present a credible threat that you could face. That way, you could physically confront your past and go on to what you need to do, face the true Sith.

KOTOR 2 isn't pretentious, it's just written by people who know basic writing conventions (i.e. having antagonists that thematically oppose the protagonist, having recurring motifs, imagery and ideas, etc). This is all writing 101 that even the original Star Wars movies followed.

It isn't that KOTOR 2 is pretentious, it is that all of the other Star Wars games are immensely retarded and are written by fanfic writers whose thoughts end at "what sith lord is the most powerfulest?"

It absolutely shits on the previous game in the series. Its like if the Dark SIde ending happened, even if you pick Light Side. The whole backstory of KOTOR2 makes no sense.

They fucking won the war that happened just a few months ago retard. They blew up the Star Forge, killed Malak and saved the Republic. If you wanted to set something in that sort of 'Jedi driven to extinction' setting, use the period in-between the Prequels and the OT.

The most minor villains in class stories are probably more interesting than Nihilus and Sion. We're meant to believe that a dude with like a dozen assassins and a dude in a wrecked ship can make the Republic tremble. Its fucking retarded. Vitiate was shit, yes, but that doesn't redeem Nihilus and Sion.

Game was made during the Bush era, don't be surprised its dystopian as hell complete with clear allegories to Al Qaeda. It was a different time.
