in AOE2 no they don't. What's so interesting about seeing the best in tournaments doing the same stuff every play? What's interesting about never varying the gameplay just because you HAVE to min/max the same exact way or you'll lose? If that's what competitive in AOE2 is, why not just watch programmed bots playing?

lmao not in AoE2. Sure they nerf/buff units every now and then but the meta has remained basically unchanged for the past 20 years. The most effective build orders have stayed the same. AoE2, while a fantastic game and a core part of of my childhood/adolescence, is not an ever changing game.
