So we all know that Dusk is worth a buy, but what about the game it's bundled with, Amid Evil?

yes, you could even argue its better.

Quit listening to Civvie11.

Just kidding, he's super based.

>Civvie11
I don't think I've seen even a single person say that Dusk isn't worth it.

It's great.
The gameplay is tight, the weapons are cool, and the soundtrack kills.
Could use some more enemy variety, but they do the job with what they got.
Fuck those spike ball shits though

I like it but Blue Orbs are OP as fuck

am I the only one who thought it was a bit boring?

Depends on the world. I hated the machine one but loved the Roman one

It is a bit boring. Get Project Warlock instead.

The enemy AI is also stupid, but huge number of enemies make up for it.

In my opinion the level design of Amid Evil is pure shit, especially from the middle of the second episode onwards. The mechanics of the game are good, but I quit after 6 hours exclusively because of the level design. I only recommend it at a sale.

Yeah, the Machine level is the "that level" of the game by most people's accounts from what I gather.
The standouts are definitely the Sunny D world > Wizard world > The Void > Moon Mountain land
The Pilgrim temple drags, but it's not as forgettable as the Sentinel eyeball world or as frustrating as the Machine world.

I don't know what you could do to pump up replay-ability other than releasing new maps. I think I would prefer an Amid Evil 2 to just new maps though, just so there could be an update to weapons, mechanics, and enemies.

I enjoyed it but the fact you see all weapons in the first realm kinda kills the sense of progression they try give you by starting you from scratch on each one and I felt like a lot of the levels were a tad too long - you could trim most down by 10% to speed it up and probably improve the overall game.

I actually liked the early and late machine world, its really only the middle ehere you're going through the guts of the facility that dragged for me.

Conversely I thought the void was pretty but gimmicky as shit and could do with being half as long to stop the wow factor running out so long before you clear it.

For me, it's still in early acess

First level of the Machine World was really cool, and I wish they stuck with the "storm covered ruin" the entire time. Like going through a ruined magic tech city, obscured by darkness and rain, only giving you the true scope with brief flashes of lightning. That would have been cool.

Void could do without the second level. Hell, just combine the first and the gate level in one big level and there you go. That and the boss room might just be enough, especially if they went balls to the wall with the enemies.

Project Warlock is boring, mainly due the level design.

OST made it boring to me. I have to put up some magic sword or lazerhawk just to keep flow going.

It was okay but I thought Dusk was a way better game.

It's boring.

Yes. It is pretty great.
It goes for a different experience than Dusk so don't expect another nu-quakexblood game. The graphic style is around the level where it can become a big negative point for some since it is teetering on the brink of looking good and looking old so to many it looks hideous while others think it looks too modern. Then again, many players don't really care about that so it is not really a problem.

Personally i loved it. Perhaps not quite as much as Dusk but pretty close and i would seriously recommend getting the bundle instead of just Dusk. It is a good game

amid evil is best new blood game

really looking towards ultrakill releasing

Yeah, the soundtrack was pretty forgettable. I tried playing music over the game but it didn't really help that much.

I get what you mean. It is atmospheric background music. More quake than doom and thus really forgettable. As atmospheric background noise it is really great for setting the mood but there really is nothing to drive up the tension or anything that would make any of the tracks memorable or recognizable
Well, Hulshult is good at this sort of stuff but i far prefer his more adrenaline filled tracks

The soundtrack is great at establishing ambience, it just needs more headbanging tracks

Amid Evil is fun, but a lot of levels are slowed down by tedious platforming sections.

I actually really like the soundtrack. It's more geared towards ambiance than, say, DOOM's ost, but it's got a groove to it. I can see where you're coming from though. Having a slower paced soundtrack doesn't quite mesh with fast paced action. Best I can really say in its defense is that the original DOOM 1 and 2 each had some slower paced tracks that worked in its favor.

As much as I like this game, they're really losing focus on development. They keep adding shit no one asked for when they should either be making new maps and guns, or improve gun mods and the level editor so the community can do it.

Definitely not as good as Dusk, but it's a fun game overall. The mapping is a bit bland and not very tight (many odd joints between copypasted elements when you look close, gives impression of cheapness), really that's the only criticism I can think of

it's really not even Quake, the Quakiest that it gets is the machine world and that still doesn't really capture the abstract fantasy horror that Quake was going for. The OST/ambient music is dogshit too and often obnoxiously repetetive

Amid Evil is the definition of a 6/10. Expect nothing and you'll enjoy it

>ambiance
>atmospheric background noise
Yes, i feel like devs showed to composer those beautiful environments and forgot to say they making first person shooter, not puzzle solving adventure game.
