I'm replaying it right now and enjoying myself. It's pretty simple but I just love the characters/aesthetic.
It has Tara Strong back when she was cute, that makes it alright.
Only boring people and children experience boredom.
I played it as a kid and enjoyed it even more as an adult. If you haven't maxed your sphere grids on at least one save you don't know shit.
1. The characters literally have no personality or character development
2. Literally a Hallway from start to finish
>1. The characters literally have no personality or character development
You can dislike the game for heaps of different issues, or you can not like the characters, but what you said just isn't true. The whole point of the fucking game is their development.
>2. Literally a Hallway from start to finish
>Wahhh it's not open world like my assassin's creed games, and why is there no crafting?
This is why retards who spout that FF13 was only bad because it was linear are stupid. There are heaps of fantastic mostly linear games, including early entries in this same series. It is not an intrinsically bad element.
your mongrel brain is overstimulated from trashy PvP games.
drop them and meditate or you wont be able to enjoy single player games ever again.
it's because you are boring.
They are bland as cardboard. I love Tidus & Yuna but they are insanely bland especially compared to FF9.
Tidus alone is a better character than the entire cast of IX.
>The whole point of the fucking game is their development.
Development that's handled poorly. Tidus acts like a petulant child right up until the final aeon.
>This is why retards who spout that FF13 was only bad because it was linear are stupid
There are numerous reasons why 13 was bad, ignoring the others is equally as stupid.
The problem was that his development was rushed. Tidus was initially a great character but he never grew over the course of the game like Cloud, Zidane, Dagger or Terra did. He's more like a Squal
I think this is true of a lot of older games if we're willing to re-examine them honestly, that when stripped of nostalgia and youthful excitement they just...don't hold up well. I'd argue it's *particularly* true of Final Fantasy games that are critically lauded - 4, 7 and 10 are all kinda 'meh' when revisited.
That said, 6 is a banger and 5 is criminally underrated.
This, played FF7 for the first time on PS4 in 2015 & loved it. Tried to replay it last month & only made it 4 hours into the game and reached the Golden Saucer before i had to quit due to how mediocre & boring it was
I love FFX, it's the mix of the soundtrack, atmosphere, everything is so nostalgic, feels like being in high school staying late on a saturday night playing.
Zanarkland really feels like a dream.
>cloud thinks he's a sephiroth clone
>goes full retard and then into a coma
>zidane learns he's a genome
>goes full retard and abandons his friends
>tidus learns he's a dream of the fayth
>just gets up and continues the mission like a fucking man
who's the petulant child?
It's repetitive, even by JRPG standards, and goes on far longer than it needs to.
The difference is, Cloud & Zidane constantly developed over the course of the game. Tidus stayed the same exact character with no development until the very end
You've become a jaded old miserable cynical ball of bitter irony that can't enjoy anything like the rest of Zig Forums.
I'm 21 dipshit, cope harder
Holy shit big ups this is so true.
All those characters have a natural progression where they eventually come to terms with who they are over the duration of their games and overcome their petulance, except Tidus. Even after watching the jecht spheres and up to the final aeon (the end of the game) Tidus is still cursing his father.
21 and its already set in? Damn dude. I dunno what to tell you except its only going to get worse. Do what you will with that information.
>How dare you point out glaring flaws in a game!!!
Kill yourself Zoomer
Dude I'm pushing 40. And the condition you're describing where the things you greatly enjoyed and captivated you as a kid now make you feel nothing and even frustrate you is very typical of the syndrome you find on this board. Soon you will be wholly and completely unable to derive enjoyment from anything at all. Then you'll scour this board and any online and maybe even IRL circle you're in for people cracking a smile or enjoying something and it'll make you seethe to the point of breaking your teeth. You'll have an unstoppable urge to unleash a torrent of smug, cynical passive aggressive bile and liquid acidic shit all over them and whatever they're enjoying. Its all you'll do. Trying to ruin other people's happiness will become your new hobby and game.
I agree and 13 has the same problem. We're supposed to understand Tidus' character through his narration and Lightning through her party members who are constantly telling us how great she is but their actions in game are a stark contrast of the perception that's being forced upon us. We don't see that slow evolution with Tidus and Lightning has 3 games to try to develop her character. Whether it's rushed or just terribly written, they're translated poorly in their games.
After getting the first Jecht sphere Tidus realizes that he only hated his father because his mother always ignored him and only cared about his father. Then after beating Yunalesca and seeing Sin chilling there Tidus nicely tells him just hold out a little longer and they'll find a way to stop this whole thing. Just because you didn't pay attention during the game doesn't mean the character development wasn't there.
Not an argument OOT was my favorite game growing up and i played it for a couple hours last week and still think it's a 10/10. Good games age well, some games simply were only good because of childlike wonder or experiencing it for the first time through rose tinted lenses
The player is given that information, sure but it's not reflected in Tidus' character. Even at the final aeon. Tidus is going on about how he hates his father. There's no reconciliation given until after he's been vanquished and by that point Jecht is out of the picture.
replaying the game recently the romance is forced. Tidus creeps on Yuna from afar but they only share two moments alone from the party before they kiss in macalania.
And Yuna's character development happens off screen in the events prior to X-2. The game was just poorly written overall due to the rushed development
