Its basically what you'd call a perversion of something holy. That's the basic premise of the game. The church has been corrupted by the miracle. The penitent one is basically destroying that perversion.

Is Old Testament's God, without calling it God. The DLC flat out states that the Miracle can "feel" things like jealousy (which again, fits the Old Testament guy) and confirms that it does have plans, and it's not just crazy priests making assumptions.

Very sure that was just another name for the over all "will" of the Miracle. At the end of the day, the whole cult turns around the First Miracle, the Grievous Miracle, the Old Miracle, the Father and First Son of the Miracle and all that. And again, the DLC flat out confirms the Miracle is the name of the deity behind all of this, with the Amanecidas answering only to him (while with the Peninent and Escribar, is more ambiguous who is truly serving the Miracle)
