Jak 1 being worse than people say, Jak 2 being better than people say.
Excessively difficult timed races in Jak 2 where you can get screwed over depending on how NPC cars spawn. Unforgiving checkpoints in Jak 2.
Jak 3 being ultimately the best, but feeling far too easy after you beat Jak 2.

Additionally, character designs and dialogue which would be controversial today.

What the hell, bro? I thought the games are for kids.

I mean, reviews indicate enjoyable platforming even for adults, but I didn't expect something like this.

Hes right, jak 3 is best

I doubt modern journalists could even beat Jak II.
Even if you're a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus like me there are multiple sections you'll probably have to retry 3 - 20 times.

that yuro cover is ugly

anyway, jak 1 is kino, a great 3d platformer.

jak 2 is awful, if you really want I can go into detail but it's just a terrible game. if you find yourself hating it just drop it, seriously.

jak 3 greatly improves on the flaws of 2, and is a fun game.

daxter is a great game so you should play it (after 1), others are worth checking out as well.

Jak 1 is the most technologically impression version of the Banjo-type collect-a-thon

Jak 2 is fantastic, moves to a GTA style but retains the great controls. Very polished.

Jak 3 is a bit less polished, but is pretty fun. Much easier than 2

I fucking love Daxter but goddamn I wish PSP games didn't run like absolute shit.

How are the PS4 ports? I heard bad things about them when they first released so I was wondering if they were fixed?

as far as im aware all the trilogy ports are kinda dodgy but never enough to ruin a game

There’s no way in hell they’ll keep designs like those if they make another.

Jak 1 and Jak X run fine for me. I started 2 and I heard this weird noise the entire time that would not go away. I guess it was an audio bug. Jak 3 I haven't played so no idea.

First game is a fairly standard but well made collectathon platformer
Second one is a very pooly balanced and edgy slightly more open game and the worst in the series
Third game is the second game but now its very easy and everything is more fun and it toned down the edginess

Mostly just the third game stands out

I want to FUCK all but tes

>"Just chillin' it; watching the hot babes prancing around in their skimpy little bikinis, you know, just how they jiggle. I get that special tingling feeling in my... tail."
I imagine the carefree devs who wrote and designed stuff like this wake up in a cold sweat now, waiting for somebody on Twitter to cancel them.

You're in for a wild ride. Enjoy.

First one is the best and most wholesome. The sequels are kinda meh, I guess I prefer the third one though

And you KNOW with Cali-Sony in control, they’ll never make something like that for a while, if ever.

Jak and Daxter is a solid and polished collectathon. Feels right at home among the N64's best. Its primary flaws are that it is too short and too easy.
Jak II is a weird hybrid of Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank and GTA III. All of those components are inferior to the games they lift from. Difficulty spikes common.
Jak 3 continues spitballing the bloated featureset of Jak II by adding a ton of stupid minigames and one-off mechanics that never amount to anything. Visibly rushed. Way too easy again.

How's it on PS4? PS3 or PS4?

Jak 1 is the best. Jak 2 and 3 are boring gta clones

2>1>3

Jak 1: Fun light hearted platformer with a colorful cast, unique setting and decent gameplay
Jak 2: Has everything Jak 1 had but now also includes GTA sections and edgy revenge plot and has the best villain in the series voiced by Clancy Brown
Jak 3: Very rushed production. You'll see 90 percent of the game is reused assets from 1 and 2. Forgettable villain. New characters aren't that good and its not properly playtested. You can beat the whole game with the 2nd upgrade to your yellow gun.

bait

I agree

stop your samefagging bitch

This is objectively true, 2 is a masterpiece of game design and atmosphere

What you get are games that:

>Are very fun to play
>Comedy is average but never unfunny
>Story is not groundbreaking subvert-your-expectations bullshit that runs around nowadays
>World is weirdly charming and every area feels completely different(Specially in 1 and 2)
>Gameplay is tight and some missions will feel impossible unless you have a basic grasp of most of the game mechanics

If you end up liking the series, there are 3 other side games that are kinda enjoyable each in their own way

>jak 1 being worst than people say
Stopped reading there. Dunk your head in a vat of acid and come up.

Of atmosphere yes, of game design not so much.

Its saved by how short it is but there really isn't that much thats really remarkable about it. There's a lot of downtime, its baby tier easy, not very many memorable tracks, daxter is more annoying than in any of the other games, only 3 bosses, very little enemy variety, levels are hit and miss.

Ignore this I thought I was in my Diablo 2 thread.

It's fuck you game design something that we need more of these days
You need to git gud

The villians are 2 incestuous wizards, a powermad Krusty Krab baron and a half cyborg dead guy who's a puppet of an evil space darkness robot

...

Honestly my favourite part is the Precursor Basin, but I think user just means that people praise it so highly in retaliation to how they didn't like the jarring shift that was made in Jak II and vice versa is applied to how people will hate Jak II more than it should be hated. I think Jak and Daxter's strong points are that there are no loading screens, so it feels huge, when the game is actually pretty short and what sucks about how cool it is seeing all the Precursor tech in the Basin, you've gotta go into the swamp right after which is so fucking shitty. Jak II has a nice tonal shift in my opinion and the city just feels like a dystopian world done in a great way, which could never be done without some shitty social commentary over it now. I'm a sucker for the ancient precursor shit though.
