fuck that, I'm waiting for BOTW2
at this rate we'll have a port of Link's Crossbow Training

I've never understood the appeal of paying full price for a decade old game. Your old copy still works dude, just play that.

Mine doesn't, so I'm looking forward to pirating this

480p is terrible nowadays.

YIPEEE MORE 60 DOLLAR PORTS OF MY PRESCHOOL BABY GAMES!!!!

Fuck that, Twilight princess when

Yea, you get actual wii for cheaper than buying the remaster or whatever

isnt SS literally the worst zelda? Why arent they porting WW or TP instead?

>I've never understood the appeal of paying full price for a decade old game. Your old copy still works dude, just play that.
Because it's 480p tard. Also I'm hoping they put normal controls in, at least for everything but the swordplay.

>include an option to shut up Fi
>instantly a top tier Zelda game
You know it would be.

>isnt SS literally the worst zelda? Why arent they porting WW or TP instead?
Who says they aren't? Next year is Zelda's anniversary. They're probably re-releasing all the 3d zelda like they're re-releasing all the 3d marios (except galaxy 2)

No, that's a meme brain opinion.

They also make the opening drag on way too long before something interesting happens.
It shares that problem with TP, which does it worse.

When is Cadence of Hyrule physical tho? Will it be in eu as well?

I think the supporting cast of SS being so likable softens the blow though. The opening introduces you to Groose, and the cutest Zelda.

It's obviously for the people that never played before

WW is objectively the worst 3d zelda because it misses so much canceled content so they could release it.
No zelda game is bad. All zelda games are way above average good.

Its not the worst Zelda, it's the the worst one on the consoles. It's not horrible but it isn't good. It's 6/10 kind of game.

The biggest problem is that any sense of adventure is stripped away by constant reminders of everything. My hand is constantly being held and it just doesn't feel fun because of that.

FUCK YES. DAY 1. I would pay $100 for this game.

Fuck this man

If Twilight Princess HD on the Wii U is anything to go by, it's going to be 60 USD, isn't it? $60 for a 9-year old game. You're better off getting the original game on the original hardware, it's not that old, or pirating it.

I pirated skyward sword when it came out desu

I have the game on Wii and I WANT THE REMASTER. Lots of people (particularly Snoys) dont know what playing a good game feels like.

It's a better game than TP. TP is utterly pointless if you've played OOT. I at least appreciate SS for having lots of new stuff in it.

Now watch Skyward Sword Remaster outsell TLOU2.

It should.

someone give me a quick rundown on why this game wasn't well received or why its like the black sheep of the zelda family

Nah, SS is definitely the worst mainline Zelda. It's not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it lacks the explorative elements that define the series and it was obviously rushed in production, requiring a lot of repetition of areas and assets, not having any towns besides Skyloft, etc.

>inb4 five years

There was a five-year gap between TP and SS but they weren't making SS for most of it. They've said the art style was the first thing they chose for SS, and the concept art they showed in June of 2009 (pic related) had a different art style than the final game, which means they hadn't actually even really properly started making the game by mid-2009. My educated guess is that they only made it because they felt obligated to make at least one proper, from the ground up Wii Zelda title.

It's still a solid action adventure game, but the lack of content, polish and over-reliance on motion controls in lieu of interesting game design in a lot of instances - and the misguided need to "stretch out" what content was there, turning SS into (paradoxially) the longest yet thinnest Zelda to date - makes it the obvious black sheep of the series. It's not like a DMC2-tier disaster or anything, but it's a 7/10, which sticks out as "low quality" given the pedigree of the series.

>It shares that problem with TP, which does it worse.
Thank fuck someone finally agrees with me.

SS has prime comfy location designs. I'd just fucking love to go to sleep in the forest area, it looks so nice.

I also really love the supporting cast. Especially when contrasted against TP's completely abysmal "hey, let's keep everything a secret because Midna is a bitch and Link is her bitch" as well as its almost complete lack of characters doing anything but stand around with a vacant stare.
The supporting cast is also why I'm okay with the long opening. Just wish they'd have actually fucking used the Loftwing for more than being a glorified horse. Even epona had more story relevance than this thing.

And yeah, Fi was kinda fucked in her implementation. Also, her gaining emotions kinda comes out of nowhere - she talks to much and yet they don't even bother to make her speech patterns evolve over time.

The controls were kinda iffy. More a gimmick than anything. Replacing them with normal controls might kill some interesting concepts, though.

Well, you should explain to that guy then

Never played it. I did buy a Wii recently though so maybe I'll play it on that instead.

the amount of disappointment I felt when playing this piece of shit was immesurable

>researching for info week after week for years
>concept art springs up
>holy shit it's fucking TP link but he is missing his sword?
>what is that misterious figure? she looks vaguely like the master sword, are they going to make a game about the hidden spirit in the blade?
>is she the new companion? can she morph into the blade?

turns out it was a garbage linear piece of shit with no overworld, no day and night cycle, constant content reuse, absolutely infuriating sidekick that never shuts the fuck up and the most bullshit contrived story ever written to give purpose to a villain that never needed one, POINTLESS is the ultimate description of this trainwreck, a fucking wii motion plus tech demo, and all of it was directed by the fucking ORACLE OF SEASONS\AGES guy of capcom, he managed to make something this fucking bad despite his legacy, fuck skyward sword and fuck niggers

>Shitward Sword
>A good game
Sage

Dreadful pacing and hand holding as well as constantly revisiting the same three areas over and over

TP also fucks up many of the good parts of OoT.

For example, item balance is entirely broken. You have redundancies and useless things filling up your inventory. It's the opposite of tight design, whereas in OoT all redundant items were spread across young/adult Link so that they don't make each other useless.
And then there's the characters. I fucking hate Midna and please don't tell me her behavior is justified. She's still an asshole for most of the game.

Warrior Zelda and the melee moves are kinda dope, though. Too bad that wolf melee was crippled in a fashion that made me feel like no one fucking playtested it.
Otherwise they should have noticed that a low damage high knockback character is a shitty design if there's no equivalent of human Link's death blow. You have to wait for enemies to stand back up before you can kill them.
The entire game is also paced somewhat like a minigame collection. Zelda was always full of minigames, but TP takes the cake.

A by the numbers copy is better than at best 6/10 which missed out huge aspects of what makes Zelda appealing. At least TP combat isn't Simon Says, where the block can change mid swing. You even have multiple moves, while SS basically removes movement from combat as you get locked in place while attempting a swing. It even does that bad parts of TP worse, making tear collecting the 3rd or 4th time you backtrack through an area. Or how items are completely useless outside of whatever gimmicky motion puzzle they have. You make a whip weapon with a focus on motion controls yet it is fucking pointless for combat and at best makes fights take longer. How do you fuck that up?

>all of it was directed by the fucking ORACLE OF SEASONS\AGES guy of capcom

Fujibayashi also directed Minish Cap, and went on to make Breath of the Wild when given more creative freedom, so he's definitely not the one at fault here. I really don't want to continue beating on the "Miyamoto ruins everything" horse, but it's an unavoidable fact that arises when you look at SS's development. People blamed Aonuma for it, which was also very misguided. SS is definitely the result of Miyamoto pulling a Sticker Star/Star Fox Zero on Zelda and strongarming a talented dev team into making a vision that, on a fundamental level, has some pretty essential issues.

People can just pirate it for their pc. Why bother unless you added quality of life improvement? I'm hoping they removed the notification of picking up an item. So fucking annoying that it resets after you load a save file that it considers the item new.

>no overworld
It has the exact same fucking overworld as TP. In fact, it has more overworld than TP.
There's one island with interactable NPCs in the sky for SS. TP doesn't even have that much content in its overworld.
