>Far more in depth gameplay, higher skill floor >Stamina system that takes some kind of semblance of intelligence to manage >Weapon variety that's more than just pressing R1 with the appropriate stat >Actual build variety that lets you tackle combat in different ways rather than just dictating what melee weapons you can use >Optional content is actually challenging >Much better humanoid boss fights >Actually has interesting magic (arts) that do more than just "magic ball go forward" >rarely ever talked about
When will this board just admit the only reason they like Souls games over NioH is its brainless gameplay and better presentation? Gameplay wise NioH is lightyears ahead of the Souls franchise.
Not everything has to be about combat, I prefer sekiro and dark souls more because they nailed this feeling of adventure, venturing into the unkown. The lore is great too, specially if you spend time.
I loved Nioh as much as the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne (haven't played Demon's yet) because those games combine things I like: sword combat, being entirely focused on beating a bunch of enemies and bosses rather than staying reading text boxes, and RPG mechanics. Most of the Soulsborne fanbase only care about lore and atmosphere, to the point where they spend more time discussing the lore and watching lore videos than playing the games would be happy if the games had no combat at all and were just exploration games a la Myst. Case in point: Nioh 2 on PC when? I do own a PS4 but I'll rather play games on my PC.
Nioh is pure gameplay, obviously it won't be as popular on neo-nu-Zig Forums

The story is also not an inscrutable mess

I'm waiting for this to release on PC. The first Nioh was great except for the enemy and level variety.
I'm not sure if I prefer it over the souls games though. I wish Nioh had more online integration. The red spectres you can summon were alright but it got old relatively quickly.
Does Nioh 2 fix some of these issues?

Its pretty meh. The loot system is awful. I wish it was more like ninja gaiden or DMC. The community is awful. All they want to do is one hit every boss. I don't see how thats fun.
>All they want to do is one hit every boss. Isn't it basically similar in the souls community where they spaz out over which weapon is best to kill shit as quickly as possible
Wyatt Gonzalez
Pretty much try hard community but Souls community is worst. They really think that genre is hard lol.

>All they want to do is one hit every boss. ????????
>that's because they already beat the game and want to talk more about it Exactly! they do that instead of playing other videogames because they don't care about videogames as a whole; they only care about Soulsborne lore. I've played and finished seven games this year and played a couple multiplayer ones (have in mind I not only have a full time job but I'm marked essential so no quarantine NEETdom for me) while the Soulsborne fanbase played a total of 0 - cero - zero - null - zéro games during this cursed year of 2020, spending their entire time either regurgitating said Soulsborne lore or begging for the next source of lore (Elden Ring). Soulsborne fans are pretty much like MMORPG players or Gacha players: they only care about one thing which they obsess over and the rest may as well not exist so they shouldn't be considered videogame fans in the first place.
>now you're just being retarded Nah, I'm right and you know it.
Well, not all Soulsborne fans. More like 80% of them, the "Lore and Atmosphere" drones, to be precise.
I don't know how to fix it but Nioh's big problem is that parrying is way too easy and way too strong. You can kill pretty much any human enemy without taking damage by just standing there and parrying over and over.
>DMC Maybe in 3 and 4. But in Baby May Try 5, that simply isn't the case anymore.

People don't like Souls games because of gameplay, people like it for their worlds and exploration which even FromSoft themselves doesn't understand sadly. Nioh while having better combat than Souls games including Sekiro still is shit tier compared to actual action games with actual depth.
William Hughes
Agree. nioh fans and Sekiro and DS killed the fun games. Now its mainstream casual shit.
Nicholas James
Its not brainless cause if we PvP'd in Souls combat I'd beat the ever living piss out of you, cause my brain knows more about the combat than yours.
Sebastian Morris
You couldn't have killed Vergil as Nero at SoS and above without using orbs have you?
cheesing is what Nioh and DS players do. Have to find the most broken build.
Evan Gray
proof?

Nioh 2 is fun because you have powerlevel and still get co-op. Souls games just have better level design, lore and atmosphere. I prefer Souls games but Nioh is still fun.
William Williams
Pure shit.
Anthony Nguyen
Bayonetta 3 is coming tough (hopefully) and Babylon's Fall may be actually good in terms of combat.
Jackson Evans
Patch notes. NO need to nerf anything unless community abuse one hit.
Josiah Wood
Nioh is Dark Souls 2/Dark Souls 3 done right, if you're going to quadrupple down on the action then you need to have an actual combat system in place or things are going to get boring real quick, which is where Nioh triumphs. I'd also say some of the levels/bosses in Nioh rival souls quality (e.g. the Ninja mansion from the first game), which is impressive considering that it's doing its own seprate thing.
Xavier Reed
>Far more in depth gameplay, higher skill floor Explain how. I played through the game on one or two stances and used same basic tricks I used in Souls. Stances give breadth, not depth to the gameplay.
Levi Roberts
>game doesn't have to be balanced until the community breaks it :^) retard
Grayson Murphy
>Fighting game-lite Lol no. That's why DaS isn't in EVO and won't ever be considered as a fighting game.
Zachary Walker
I honestly played half an hour and then dropped it. I don't know what it is about the game that just doesn't sit with me.
