I'm on performance mode and it still runs in 20-25 fps half the time.

Don't know. Maybe it's a business model targeted at people like me who were never interested in any nintendo property enough to get a switch, so they laid bait.

Maybe Nintendo was the only place they could go to get their vision realized. Or maybe Nintendo just paid for the exclusivity and development.
