Tendo makes indie games and sells them full price. A metroid game is far less work than hollow knight for example but also sells 1mio plus because tendies eat every game up no matter the price

I feel the exact opposite, I love the setting and vehicle designs but don't necessarily give a fuck about the characters. If they made a game where you design your own animal pilot/mercenary I'd be down for it, or something like Federation Force where you control generic soldiers, except hopefully not done in an intentionally goofy art style.

How I'd handle Star Fox: resume from 1, 2, and the 1992 Nintendo Power comic. Anything introduced in 64 or newer is not canon. Fey, Miyu, and Fara are in, Krystal is out for good. Get voice actors who actually sound like the SNES' samples (so Slippy won't sound like a child).
For the gameplay, either continue from 2, or shed the on-rails roots to make it a simulator-ish cinematic space epic like Wing Commander.

Make a sequel to Star Fox Assault, but make the levels have some actual single player level deisgn instead of making the levels multiplayer stages with shitty objectives.
