its an mmo so no
It looks gorgeous though, and those character models
Looks chinky
very boring
If you like directionless, repetitive, grindy mmos. Sure
Absolutely not. Korean mmo trash.
Is it Tera levels of monotonous?
As someone who has played since korean alpha and still plays to this day, yes. And no.
The game is super cheap and as a free player there is a shit ton of content to do. But it's a super pay to win game. Everyone I talk to about it I typically say the same thing. Do the free trial or do one of the events to get it for free, play for a week and buy if you'd like, then play for another month. Do not spend any money in that month. That part is important, you'll get a real taste of how slow progressions can be without paying.
Regarding the actual content of the game. There's a load of things to explore and quests to do. Most quests are shit but some are decent. There's events run weekly that change, though they all usually follow the same pattern or are just login crap. Life skills are pretty deep compared to other MMOs, as is combat.
There is no real PvE in the game. Like no dungeons, raids, or that crap. It's mostly killing brain dead mobs Dynasty Warriors style. There are bosses in the game but they are usually just sponges that will one shot you without good gear. Nothing to memorize or theorize about them. Just outgear them.
The game used to be very PvP oriented and still is to a degree. At any time out of the noob servers you can be killed by anyone when not in a town. But they gave it heavy penalties years ago and you lose nothing for dying and the killer gets all the bad. Endgame PvP is fucking fantastic, some of the best shit I've ever done in an MMO and why I still play. But it takes a massive amount of time or money to reach that point and most players never ever get the gear required. Cause gear matters in PvP, hence the pay to win.
Going back to pay to win you can buy almost everything.
Enhancement materials, pets to pick up loot, most storage, more inventory, more carry weight, easy access to exclusive buffs, better exp gain, better money gain, better stamina gain, etc. Spending gives you an advantage in every aspect of the game.
>Pvp focused
So it's shit then
It used to be PvP focused. That's what the game was built on. Recently though they've worked a lot on the life skill aspect of the game and minor co-op activities. The endgame PvP node/conquest stuff is always minorly tweaked but rarely ever gets large changes and is usually just put on the backburner.
For most people the game is mostly just exploring, grinding, and getting bigger numbers. PvP is in my opinion the best aspect of the game but like I said very high entry cost and is pretty stagnant for the most part.
It has a free trial for 7 days and often has events to get the game for free. There's no point not trying it if you're interested. Just take my advice and refrain from spending in your first month.
Also if you're interested in PvE only content they are making a new game that focuses on that specifically and uses an upgraded version of the same engine.
Though almost no info is out about it right now.

shouldnt there be way more sfm of this game ?
dont the models look vr good ?
My gf has put 800hrs into it and she likes it.
Some of the armors got modded into skyrim.
The actual bodies themselves are pretty fucky, it's a proprietary engine and they have horrible fucking skeleton shit or whatever.
If you look at some of the outfits that are global across all classes you can see the restrictions they had to put on to make them work.
That's not hard to do since the game incentivizes you to leave it open 24/7. There's afk mechanics and a specific built in function that minimizes the game to your tray. It's clever since it boosts steam numbers and makes the game appear a lot more active than it actually is.
Looks gorgeous with relatively fun combat. But as a game its fucking so shit. Imagine your player character and everyone else's character is very anime, but the rest of the world is default fantasy. It's so fucking out of place and contrasts so hard.
You're hardly anime.
The only anime aspect is the over the top skills. Everything else from outfits, voice, etc is pretty grounded in the game world.
The only thing that stands out is some of the goofy pets they release.
WOW LOOK AT ALL THE BLOOM AND UI ELEMENTS BDO IS UTTERLY GORGEOUS
fuck off trannies the game is complete trash and you know it
>trannies
why do you think about them?
It's worth mentioning that the combat seems cool at first, but it's really just a shallow mess of "spam CC and i-frames to win". Despite making you "aim", the combat actually uses soft target locking. All attacks are based on range and looking in the general direction of a target. As such, dodging doesn't really work, so instead, it's loaded with i-frames pretending to be dodges. Also, as a result, getting someone to stop in place and not spam i-frames is the best way to beat them. You can macro combos for most characters that will automatically do the best job of dumping CC and damage on an opponent so you never have to actively do anything. The combo system is also both easy to use and janky as shit. Individual attacks can be easy to pull off, but in the middle of a combo string, it sometimes feels like the game read two separate inputs as one and makes you do shit you didn't want.
As for everything else, it's a massive gear grind and a lot of auto-pilot from point to point. Tons of time wasted getting around instead of being somewhere and doing something.
It's more like poking at an enemy getting around iframes and guards hoping your RNG cc goes off.
Spamming will get you killed, so will not knowing how to protect yourself. In 1v1 scenarios you have to know how to play and have to be lucky you dont get fucked by rng.
In groups it's just about playing smart. Nobody can keep track of all the CCs and iframes and shit so get in and get out while doing damage and keeping your PA uptimes managed is key.
Yeah it's not super complicated but it's more than you let on. The i-frame system and CC in general is fine. It's the RNG that's built into CC that fucks you and will never be fixed.
PvP in BDO is a joke. Everyone complains about how unbalanced it is, so in the end all the grinding they do with their characters is worthless because certain classes get special treatment. Not to mention the shitty netcode that can never adequate for countries with huge landmass.
Fuck no
>t. 1000 hours (most spent idling fishing shit)
They went full-on greedy Korean MMO after a certain point.
Gearing in BDO is a fucking NIGHTMARE because of all the gacha gambling elements. You literally have to risk losing your current gear every time you do it which will set you back several hours of progress when it fails... over and over and over
The only true unbalance is how wizards and witches are required in group pvp and that classes with grabs(most of them) have an easier time in 1v1.
I've played Maewha, a class that is considered bottom tier, since she came out. And even without a grab or any real group pvp skills I still am one of the top fraggers in my guild's conquest/node wars.
Gear always trumps class and skill will also trump class. A retard spamming skills will get nowhere.
>set you back hours
Failing a PEN acc can set you back literal months
>game with sexy female characters
>call people defending the game "trannies"
Are you stupid or actually a real trannies trying to make a history revision of what trannies have been attacking?
No. It's a tragic game because the world is detailed and beautiful, the character creator is top tier, the story flows coherently between all zones of the game, but at the core it's a Korean pay2win casino grinder. It's also dangerous as how manipulative it is isn't immediately obvious.
I remember being a monk when it released and it could absolutely BTFO anyone in 1v1 as long as the gearing was relatively similar.
I'm guessing they kept adding more 'OP' classes over time to 'incentive' people starting over again and again
Yep accessories peak gambling bullshit. Glad I uninstalled the game.
There are so many layers to the gearing RNG that I'm sure I've forgotten some but I remember building up failstacks (which have their OWN RNG too & can succeed and fuck you over) just to have a better chance at not blowing up your gear. It's absolutely devilish
Games that let you create OC donut steels of cute girls attract trannies who want to pretend they are the cute girl. BDO has them, Warframe has them since the kiddo update, FFXIV has them.
>monk
striker and mystic were both broken on release, both have been nerfed and are mid tier now. It's like that with most new classes, they don't really seem to properly test class balance before release even though they have a PTS.
failstacks are fine as a system, they're just super fucking tedious
if you know how to enchant gear properly and know when to save and when to use your stacks you can make a profit with almost every enchant
there's some autist that does nothing but enchant and recently passed the 1trillion silver mark being the first in the world
to the common player though it's just a pain, but it is an entirely functional system that even free players can take advantage of
I mean choke-slamming wizards trying to take "your grinding spot" was fun but you have to wonder if they ever thought about the implications of giving one class ALL the CC on release
