Peace Walker thread!
This is the dumbest post made by a Peace Walker chad in history.
Its true bro
>Has the shittiest gameplay out of all the games
>Has the most pointless story out of all the games
This game still exists.
Hell, I could even go one step farther and post Portable Ops +. It doesn't even have a story, just a pseudo roguelike arcade mode as an excuse to recruit units for the now dead multiplayer.
>Has the shittiest gameplay out of all the games
That's not PO or MGS2.
>Has the most pointless story out of all the games
That's not PO.
>It's the most charming one out of all the games
That's PW for sure, yeah!
I honestly rank it a close second to MGS3 and 1.
>This game still exists.
*Blocks your path*
This shit was barely even a metal gear game it wassome weird pokemon bullshit
the difficulty is all out of whack in the game, and the stealth is way too easy so know that I'm saying this aware of these things. But that said, I always appreciated how Peace Walker moved away from the slow paced stealth of MGS3 and 4 and back into a more arcadey approach similar to MGS1 and 2.
In PW you do a lot of closer quarters sneaking and it's quite fun actually. I just wish the game was harder than it was. But I prefer the stealth in PW to the stealth in 3 if I'm honest, PW lets me sneak up close to my enemies, it is designed pretty well around using the crouch mechanic and there is just a nice flow to it (aside from it being too easy)
It's a small thing, but I certainly appreciated it for that. The fact that you couldn't crawl actually improved the gameplay.
Metal Gear Ac!d is not a Metal Gear Solid game user. It's a different series.
I agree with your second part though. Criminally underrated game, and the second one is even better. I wish more TBS card games existed.
I kind of agree in a way. It's annoying how shit the story is, it's unfortunate that the villain sucks ass, it's even more unfortunate how hard the game circlejerks The Boss into the fucking ground making me hate her.
But Peace Walker had so many good characters, and for once it got the characterization of Big Boss right. The game is full of charm, Big Boss and the relationships he forms with the characters in the game is done really well. If only the rest of the story outside of that was good, and if only the gameplay wasn't so obviously designed for portable systems.
There's too much that stops me from loving PW, but it certainly got a lot of things right.
Anybody else believe that, while MGS3 accurately retold the story of how Naked Snake became Big Boss, that the game itself was a Virtual Mission in Venom Snake's head?
oh yeah, I found out today that still not quite everyone knew the thing about V yet, so spoilered it.
>Tfw want to replay Peace Walker, modtly for comfy times with Kaz and the gang
>Remember the mind numbingly tedious bullet sponge bosses
What the fuck was the deal with that? I swear i spent over an hour in some of those and it wasnt even hard it was just a loooooong fucking fight.
Was she still on Mother Base when Ground Zeroes happened? Trying to recall if I heard a tape say that she left.
Im almost certain she had already left by the time peace walker itself ended
user Venom Snake wasn't even a thing yet when MGS3 was made.
You'd be a fool to think that Kojima meticulously plans out the entire series in advance and doesn't ass pull his way through the story of each game. The entire retcon of Liquid possessing Ocelot in MGS2 is evidence of that. Or how he retconned The End into being a magical plant man to justify why Quiet wears almost no clothing. (I don't care that Quiet is hyper sexualized, I just think Kojima gave a shitty excuse for it. Would have been better if there was no reason at all.)
>PW lets me sneak up close to my enemies
Let me guess, you never used the d-pad in MGS3
It's sad how few people actually read the manual for MGS3 and knew how to properly sneak.
You can tell who emulated the game too since they always complain about CQC not working because they can't properly emulate pressure sensitive buttons.
I'd argue the story is pretty important as it bridges 3 to V. You'd be confused as fuck without it
Who fucking cares about pre-planning, if the end result can made to fit together that way in the end anyway?
Seriously, if you're too focused on that, you'll never really enjoy the series.
I know about the stalking feature. MGS3 wasn't designed around close quarters stealth, why do you think you get a scientific uniform in that game? Try sneaking in the interiors of Grozny Grad or in the Granin Design Bureau without the science suit on. It is literally no fun whatsoever, it is a miserable experience.
MGS3 is designed around being at a distance from your enemies, it is designed around picking them off from a distance, or going around them, or crawling. Note that I'm talking about what is designed for, I'm not saying this is the only way to play the game (fucking please, I have gotten the Big Boss rank multiple times I know how to play this game like an autistic speedrunner)
>setting aside time to listen to all of the cassette tapes and soak up the lore
Fuck was PW so fun.
Kaz was so fucking habdsome and had such a lovely personality, no homo.
Pretty much all of them had left except for Huey and Kaz at that point. Chico's sister when back to land for the GZ period and you know where Chico and Paz were
>riding around town spamming recruit off peoples wifi
I loved the psp metal gear games. That shit was super fun, even the portable ops games were fun particularly if you had some friends with psps because you only needed one copy of the game and the group of you could load in and play vs together.
You can have whatever head canon you want, I'm not going to stop you. Just address it as such and don't give Kojima more credit than he deserves. He's circlejerked enough as it is, and this is coming from someone who's favorite game of all time is MGS3.
So did Paz fuck Chico or what?
You can literally hear them fucking in GZ
This.
Ground Zeroes wouldn't have the same impact at all without playing Peace Walker first. You'd have no idea who Kaz, Paz, and Chico are, and the conflicting emotions over watching Paz die are lost if you didn't experience the secret ending.
Yes. He got the /ss/. What a way to go.
Based Chico.
Costa Rica doesn't have an army.
So if Chico fucked Paz that means Pit fucked Palutena, right?
Reminder that the Quiet being Chico theory was actually kino and better than what the game had.
I played the game for the first time on the HD collection and having listening sessions while shitposti g on Zig Forums was absurdly comfy.
/ss/ confirmed at least twice.
when I previously played MGSPW I reached a point where every mission I had left was a vehicle fight, what's the deal with those? it always boils down to me calling in like 12 ammo drops for more RPG rounds, does it just mean that I should've grinded to make my rocker launcher better?
The maxed out rocket launcher definitely helps. It's been years since I played the game, but I 100%'d it on both PSP and PS3. I think I remember being able to bring multiple rocket launchers to use with the Battle Armor.
Weird but pretty fun
