BF4 only feels good in Hardcore mode where soldiers have 60HP instead of 100HP.
But Hardcore mode is still kinda flawed because vehicles still have 100HP, there are no crosshairs, and you have to already know the map layout and boundaries because no minimap.
turns into a vehicle slaughter fuckfest if at least half the players on a team aren't running Engineer with rockets.
BF4 without IRNV/FLIR, 60hp for vehicles and players by default, with crosshairs and minimaps - that'd be an utterly rocksolid game.

BF4 on hardcore is a fucking super fun shooter. The weapon asthetics are fucking filthy though. Didn't ever get too much into BF3 but I've heard others say the gunplay is actually better and from what I remember the weapons looked good.

I could indeed, but I was trying to avoid having a piece of bloatware on the PC again just to try and play one game.
And no, it may be alive now, but it was absolutely dead for a while. A majority of my server list started to disappear or struggle to get more than ten people after One came out, then they don't even have dedicated servers anymore so you have to find a community server with non-autist admins. Which is very hard especially if you don't live on the east coast where most of them used to be.

If you remember, there was a big streamer faggot years ago that exclusively played infantry and had so much sway over the devs he got all the vehicles nerfed by saying he should be able to blow them up without needing a counter vehicle.
It was honestly awful for the game's "health" despite what you may think about vehicles. They could have done a bit to give people more options against helicopters and maybe adjusted some of the get out of jail free abilities. Instead they just watched some bitchy eceleb and killed off the variety in choices for loadouts.
