It's supposed to be like an old samurai movie. The game actually gets progressively better and more kino as you unlock more fer-inducing abilities, so every other guy you kill causes a third to start spilling his spaghetti and/or running away.
On hard mode they absolutely don't do this. People are literally lying when they claim you aren't attacked by multiple enemies at once.
Having 2-3 spearmen attacking simultaneously on Lethal would be a fucking nightmare.

I’m playing on Hard, not lethal. Enemies wait their turn. Once in a blue moon I get attacked by two at the same time, but that’s fucking rare.

Are you playing on easy mode? On hard I constantly have my attacks interrupted by enemies that are behind me, not to mention the faggot archers
Play on lethal if you think the game is too easy. I think you die in one hit on lethal difficulty.

Rush the ability that lets you block arrows, it completely nullifies archers until they start using fire arrows anyway.

No they fucking don't. They come at you two or three at a time, sometimes taking turns and switching in and out to divert your attention.
I'm playing on lethal right now and every fight I have to make sure I'm not being flanked, they absolutely do not take turns.

You're not wrong about the AI, but I can promise that it gets far more aggressive as you progress through the game. Still is silly when you climb up something that they aren't programmed to and they just circle around you and let you attack.
I don't like comparing this game to Assassin's Creed, but at least in that when you climbed up something the enemies couldn't get to, they would throw shit at you.

Yeah, I guess that ninja shit feels kind of cheap, unlike my purist samurai standoffs, which when upgraded let you just kill 5 guys in a row completely for free, or that mythic sword art that lets you kill 3 more guys, also instantly and completely for free.
They do this because of a thing called friendly fire. I've seen those fat shot gun bastards light their own buddies on fire.

I'm playing on hard (lethal wasn't a thing then) and I can absolutely confirm enemies do not wait their turn. They will attack you from behind while you're attacking another enemy generally. What they don't do is attack you while one of their allies is attacking, usually, because their attacks CAN hit each other. I've seen archers accidentally shoot and kill their allies. Hence why they yell DOSHO DOSHO and you actually see enemies duck - friendly fire IS a thing in the game and enemies can kill each other, you usually only see it with archers or the giga niggas with 2hand weapons because of their sweeps though.
Anyone saying enemies wait is lying and/or hasn't played the game.
Better and funnier than invisible barriers at least.

Another thing I noticed is that you can actually scare enemies by singling them out in a crowd. A huge group of guys were fighting me and I sprinted straight towards one of those dagger guys that throw the flash bombs, it scared the shit out of him and he flinched.
It's not possible to fix combat in these kinds of games. If it were realistic the player would always die, 100%

Entering a high level fortress/area was retarded. You couldn't even run through it because the archers have god vision and arrows, plus they can fire off like 5 arrows in 2 seconds or some shit. You won't even have time to block or dodge. It's like they're tracking arrows.

Early on before you get all the defensive abilities combat is a clusterfuck of rolling (and fighting with the camera, one of the games genuine faults)
