I dropped this game back in the day and the onevision mod recently got an update. I was wondering if I should play it vanilla or go with the mod for an overall better experience.

The way I understood the mod wasn't that it made the game better, since it was made or the handful of mega autists that wants the game to be even more tedious and grindy.

I'm guessing they "rebalanced" too much and it ended up messing with the difficulty for a first playthrough?

I see. I'll play vanilla and then maybe check the mod since I don't see myself replaying it.
I tried replaying FFT with a mod, but I ended up stopping halfway through.

I'm not sure how it is now, but the earlier version required perfection. And while the vanilla game have some really bad class balancing, it still works fine, try not to use more than two archer since that is more than enough, and you can level .
Vanilla also have like 2-3 mission that is a bit of RNG as you need to keep suicidal NPCs alive, that can be annoying, but it shouln't be too much of a hassle.
