This user is correct. It's also why PS1 discs were black.

Needed to keep the system from overheating. Red ones are faster but generate more heat. Come on I thought this was common knowledge.
Left: Soul
Right: Soulless
I had a PS2 and I didn't know this

To destroy Slim models.
The CD ROM games made the PS2 so much louder.
easier to weed out fakes
A bunch of early ps2 games were cd for some reason and they were blue. They look cool but I can tell my ps2 doesn't like reading them because they take longer to boot.

>PlayStation 2 software is distributed on CD-ROM and DVD-ROM; the two formats are differentiated by the color of their discs' bottoms, with CD-ROMs being blue and DVD-ROMs being silver

Don't know if you are zoomers or just ignorant
pretty sure i've seen some dvds being gold as well (rtcw: operation resurrection was one of those)
ps1 had a HUGE market of chiped ps1 and pirated games to the point it was insane... so ps2 blue discs maybe for copy protections or something.
Just checked a few ebay listings and none were gold. The only kind of gold CD I have seen was that StarCraft source code disc
>that one blue demo disc you spent weeks playing
What was yours? For me it has Hitman 2, Ratchet & Clank's Metropolis level and Tekken 4.
Why the wii U discs had rounded edges?
The most popular PS2 games were DVDs.
Cringe
>go to a second hand gaming store
>it was pretty fucking cool had a lot of rare stuff and good shit
>turning in some PS2 games
>"we don't take in blue discs"
>"why?
>"We just don't"
Because square discs have less space
>all those fucking bangers per demo disc
no chance in hell someone compiled them
I think some ps2 discs were blue and others were silver or gold
I think the silver ones were CDs and blue ones were DVDs
I thought the blue ones were cool as fuck
the one mailed from playstationunderground deleted all your fucking save files if you played the viewtiful joe demo. a year or two later, they gave us a free game. most of the games in the selection list were 20-dollar greatest hits titles
Wait blue ones are CDs
Although one of my ps2 CD games was silver so im not entirely sure
not like full on gold, but a goldish tint to it
erm you sure about that?
Oh right, DVDs do look like that at times. Just the quality of material used
