no

The campaign of the first one was kino, the second one was brown call of duty copy number #425, haven't played the third one

Resistance had a definitive end, so no. I know that doesn't matter in this day and age, but they went on to make Ghost of Tsushima, didn't they?
Killzone ended on a cliffhanger, however.

Third one is just as good as the original campaign-wise. 2 was only good for the co-op mode which has long since had its servers shut down.

Third is a 8/10. Very good.

The 2nd one really felt like they repurposed some scifi CoD clone with the Resistance IP. It was ok but nothing special. The MP was pretty fun though if you could actually find a group.

No they made spiderman. Infamous guys made ghost.

Sony doesn't really have a FPS franchise at the moment do they?

I just miss when devs knew how to have fun with weapons. The loadout in Resistance 1 was so damn versatile, you had a use for most of the weapons later in the game. Be it the Hedgehog grenades, that gun with the bullet-lock from Fifth Element, or the wall-hack Auger with the delayed wall-penetrating bullets.

lemme tell you how it was
>Fall of Man
PURE ALIEN INVASION KINO
>
campaign ain't nothing special but THE MULTIPLAYER AND COOP? NOTHING ELSE LIKE IT
>The third one
BEST FPS ON PS3
COMPETES WITH THE BEST FPS OF ALL TIME
multiplayer total garbage but the coop mode with the soundtrack by mastodon was cool

I think Insomniac is pretty busy with Spider-Man.

The weapons in this game. Holy shit.

I played the PSP third-person one. I liked it. I don't remember it very well, though. I might revisit it sometime. I know fuck-all about the series otherwise.

I've never played these but I have a PS3 now. I've never played an FPS on console, guess this'll be my first since it looks interesting

Coincidentally, I have been trying to decide between playing either this or Killzone soon. Which one should I go with?

Killzone, always Killzone

Resistance. Definitely Resistance.

oh itll come back at some point, killzone too and they'll be so terrible

Can I swap the triggers in this game or edit the controls? Hate the r1 shooting shit ps3 does

>At 2140 hours last night, a strange astronomical effect was reported by civilians in
Hawaii. Witnesses claim to have seen a peculiar appearance in the northern sky that
some described as a glowing fissure. The appearance lasted only a few seconds, but
was corroborated by sixteen witnesses. They claim that they briefly saw "another sky"
through the fissure, as if the heavens were torn open to reveal something underneath.
The strange phenomenon is the third peculiar event reported in the last week on the
island. The other two involved witnesses who claimed to see fast moving lights darting
across the sky in patterns or formations.
What the fuck was it Zig Forums?

The chimera aren't aliens. They're time travelers returning to Earth either from the distant future or the distant past. Was made pretty clear in the second game. Nature is healing, humans are the virus.

They were only pushing them before to compete with halo, but halo isn't really a big deal anymore.

I thought it was implied they were aliens and were what killed the dinosaurs before going dormant. Been a long while since I played 2.

What? No they're not, they inhabited earth millions of years ago but were fought off by some other species. They returned to earth in a meteorite. Most of their constructs were not built when they arrived but excavated, they were already there. In the third game they open up a wormhole to their home planet.
No it's implied that the event that killed the dinosaurs drove the chimera off the earth.

The story for this game was so good, and the third game was basically "lol we won the war" and didn't address any of it, so many things were left unanswered.

Yeah, what the fuck happened with the Cloven. They kept building up towards them but then just dropped them.

They should've done a remaster for PS4 that has Resistance 1-3, Retribution, and Burning Skies, and combine the MP from every game into one. Sony was on the remaster train for a while.

Instead they do a trilogy release on PS3 with the multiplayer all not working. They couldn't be arsed to patch out the multiplayer menus at all.

Even if they didn't explain some of the stuff I did enjoy the journey experience that was the 3rd game. It was also nifty how the co-op player was not just the same person through the whole thing but various characters he met along the way.

Pretty sure the Cloven were the predecessors of the Sentinel program in 2. Once they got Hale and engineered the virus for their use they became the Sentinels.

>I thought it was implied they were aliens and were what killed the dinosaurs
yes to the dinosaurs, but no to the aliens
The original chimera were around in the time of the dinosaurs, but some intel mentions an alien species that was handing the chimera their ass so they ended up dieing. They also didn't really go dormant as much as set up a revival. The tunguska meteor that brought them back was likely something they designed, and not only that but the virus it carried was specifically designed to attack humans

>Yeah, what the fuck happened with the Cloven
some of the later intel from R2 was saying that the cloven's evolution was drastically accelerating and I think they were starting to develop similarities to a 3rd race that originally fought the chimera

Imagine
>All three games playable in coop
>8 player coop from resistance 2 returns with new maps from the other games
>60 player skirmish on resistance 1 and 2 maps
>All weapons from all the games
>ruined by modern industry cancer that insists on character skins and heroes instead of customizing your own human and chimera

And the implications that the chimera inhabited the earth 50 million years ago, and were at war with another species who defeated them.
And the gray tech being fragments of a super weapon that wrecked the earth.
All lost now, like tears in the rain.

>the collection was went on sale once for $15
>"eh, i'll get it next time"
>years later
>now it's worth more than $100 used

fugg

I liked the 3rd game but it seems like they just wanted to be done with the series so rushed an ending to it.
