Can't even believe it was pretty much 2 guys who made this (plus a little help in the final 10% push). Beautiful. Take note, Metroid and Castlevania.
Honestly a perfect game
I'm playing it right now. It's ok but not as good as SOTN.
How does this fare against Cuphead?
Chris Larkin did some work too
nothing like it, Cuphead is a boss rush game with some lite platforming, Hollow Knight is a metroidvania
I mean which one is better in your opinion
Maybe, maybe not. But it will be better than any Castlevania installment ever made in the future. It's hard to fully compare since I played SOTN so fucking long ago but I haven't just been dialed into a game like I have with Hollow Night since my late teens (I'm 28). It's definitely something special even if some think it's not the top of the top.
Bloodstained is better than HK though
Hollow Knight, Cuphead has a problem that few people point out, which is that the core gameplay sucks
since you're constantly damaging the boss it becomes a matter of pattern memorization and waiting out the boss, meaning when you fail you have to sit through 2 solid minutes of the same crap before you get to the point you failed
no? lol
Not op, but I couldn't get into Cuphead even though I love platformers, but I loved HK. Definitely give it a try, you there a gog version, so it's easy to pirate. This game is an adventure.
Isn't that like basically in every game that has combat??
Yes.
Clearly not since his post implied it didn't apply to Hollow Knight
Are you retarded?
Here.
>it will be better than any Castlevania installment ever made in the future
I agree with that, expecting anything good out of konami at this point is lol
>Hollow Knight
>Cuphead
Bloodstained was really good.
Played HK for 1 hour only so I can't say much about it
La Mulana and Rain World are objectively better games.
I'd say Axiom Verge and Rabi-Ribi are also better.
Based
im playing it for the first time now, and its difficult to tell which enemies i face are supposed to be roadblocks and which im meant to beat. its impossible to basically dodge any attack because i move so slow, i assume im going to unlock a dash at some point. but like i face some flying bug mini-boss and i cant dodge it, am i really meant to beat monsters like this now?
I can give the other three a pass but AV is fucking shit.
My personal faves are La-Mulana, ESA, and Rain World.
The NPCs kind of ruin my immersion. I dont feel like Im exploring a world if I come across a dude humming ready to sell me a map in every area
If you mean the gruz mother then yes, that boss can be beaten pretty easily without dash, just run under it when it heads to the ceiling. To get the dash, beat the boss in the middle of the crossroads then head to the left
The art and design of the world is fairly drab and uninspired anyway so the maps are required otherwise you'd have little chance of remembering where you are in the samey monster-corridors.
autism
It's decent at best, objectively speaking. A classic 6.8/10. But I'm glad for you that you enjoy it so much.
what the fuck do you consider a 9 or a 10 then?
you really are carving a bloody path to become the most obnoxious fanbase
cope
The colours are rather muted but I wouldn't say the design is drab. All the areas are easily distinguishable and the enemies / npcs both look nice and are thematically appropriate to each area.
I started it and got bored after 30 mins. The game is ugly as fuck.
thats not autism its basic immersion
I fucking hate that Souls like mechanic of having to go back and kill your ghost to get your money. Holy shit its so annoying. So I cant just quit the game if I die and dont feel like trying again or else I wont be able to keep my stuff. I have to go back and kill the spirit then quit the game.
The ghost will stay in the same place if you quit. The only thing that'll make it disappear is if you die again.
Not even close.
Rain World is not a metroidvania, stop categorizing it as one.
>what the fuck do you consider a 9 or a 10 then?
>game is ugly as fuck.
What games do you consider have better art direction?
