The WiiU bombed but software developed for the WiiU then ported to the switch has sold tens of millions of copies. So even though it's a failure I wouldn't call it a disaster, surely they've recouped any losses by now and then some.

the dreamcast because my heart hasnt recovered yet

I've been thinking of picking up a Dreamcast and a gdemu

Probably Saturn in America or wiiu. The xbone outsold the wiiu but i think it may have done far more brand damage than the wiiu. Nintendo bounced back and even though the wiiu was a failure most people just laughed at how incompetent nintendo was at marketing the thing while the xbox one brings genuine ire for the kinds if practices microsoft tried to normalize.

Thats a good point. Plus they created successful IP on wiiu like splatoon

Ps3

It hurts

What's top right?

Techincally Saturn, but if we're talking about consoles' worth then the Xbone is nothing else than an useless piece of trash no one will ever remember about or being fond of.

Saturn had the biggest negative impact on the company's console manufacturing business. Xbone is probably the shittiest though IMO.

I'd say Saturn overall.

>Nintendo was able to recover big time from the Wii U with the Switch
>Xbox One, while not as big of a juggernaut as the Xbox, did not kill the brand and still sold pretty well.
>Dreamcast was fucked mostly due to everything that happened in the Saturn era.

Saturn fucked Sega long term, to the point where we are still seeing the effects of its failure with Sega today. It had one of the worst launches a main console could have and never recovered in US or Europe, drove out a lot of talent that SoA had, and set up a lot of devs for SoJ to fail later on when they had to port all of their projects to the Dreamcast due to how bad it failed.

Its nice for upscaling backwards compatible games. Probably best way to play Virtua Fighter 5 right now. Sega always wins

>SoA
>talent
They never had any in the first place.

dreamcast was a fantastic system. I'd say the 32X and more broadly Sega's retardation between the 16 and 32 bit eras is what doomed the company's hardware business.

PiiU was awful along with virtual boy. I don't really consider the meme consoles like CDi, gamecom, etc. relevant enough to even consider

Are you kidding? Their marketing chops is what made Sega a genuine competitor to Nintendo. Ever hear of Sega Technical Institute? Here in America Sonic 2, 3 and 3K were developed as well as comix zone

only one of these systems made its respective company give up on the console business. just sayin

Nintendo hasn't sold hardware at a loss since the N64 days

More like a combination of 2

very true. all that revenge from kaybee and toysrus

Also best way for Panzer Dragoon Orta.

WiiU was sold at a loss for a time actually

holy shit dude no
soa saved segas ass in the 90s so fucking hard its sad
soj did nothing but fight everything at every turn and try to compete with soa not realizing businesses are supposed to make money

The original Xbox is Microsoft’s best outing. It was great for playing PC ports if you were poor and it had a decent amount of exclusives some of which were Sega games

They did green light all those awful FMV games for the Sega CD and Saturn. There is also a bunch of shitty genesis games they greenlighted too

Saturn

Yeah it was SoA that crashed the Sega CD.

3DO

Atari Jaguar

You now remember Ouya

Sure but it was SoJ who insisted on these gensis add ons to compete with the atari jaguar of all things. Then after very short lifespan of these add-ons in America they demanded the Saturn be announced the same day they told Tom Kalinske they settled on going ahead with a launch in America. With zero marketing plans and practically no good software the American division had to fill the catalogue fast. It was a complete mess and SoJ blindsided their best people and turned their most profitable region into a wasteland.

>We'll never get weird-ass horror games like illbleed or fighting games like Powerstone again
It still hurts...

sure there was infighting but a majority of it is soj incompetence
the fmv games are a result of the dogshit library for the sega cd because soj hated localizing games
soj developed the saturn while soa was forced to work on the 32x at the same time

Soj wanted a whole new console, the add ons were SoA’s alternative

Sega CD had failed in Japan before it had come to America and its problems were largely technical. The 32x came afterwards and was geared for the US audience but everyone already knew the 32bit Saturn was coming and it made no sense to invest in a 32bit addon for your genesis

no, absolutely not
soa would have loved to make a whole new console, or no hardware at all
the addons were an soj idea that soa was forced to deal with, and soj did make games for the 32x for example
