I mean it kinda of works with the theme being the covenant are a inhuman unstoppable threat instead of the comic relief like in the main trilogy. Probably would have worked better had reach been the first halo game made by bungie rather than the last one though.
I also kinda always assumed that the covenant where never really speaking English in combat and it was just the suit translating it for you. so in halo reach the spartan 3 amour couldn't translate anything but in ce the mark 5 could translate unggoy and in 2 the mark 6 pretty much had all the races translated.

Yeah they never were speaking english, but it totally would have worked if Bungie sold the tone more. The game shifts so much after you reenter from orbit, yet all the spartans seem fairly calm. In the cutscenes they acknowledge that they're fucked yet they just give you calm orders in game. They needed to sell that sense that it's fucking over. I still maintain that that cutscene once you land after reentry is the exact tone they needed to continue but fail to.

man that mission is accidental kino with how many players feel forced to have to give up on some of the civilians. If there wasn't an achievement for getting all the ships out in that mission I would consider it a clever non-scripted storytelling device.

I'm excited for Halo 3 ODST coming to MCC, as well as more modding tools/optimization improvements, and hopefully a custom server browser. Honestly, once 343 is finished updating MCC, I don't think I would ever need another Halo game. Modders are already making amazing new campaigns or new multiplayer maps with silly weapons and AI battles. Infinite existing isn't going to make all the classic ones any worse. You can safely ignore any and all future 343 games from now on.

I'm exited for odst as well. Been playing alot of MCC. too bad they can't make the damn thing function properly. Halo reach still has a different sensitivity than the otehr games for some reason. Not sure how they'll handle ODST given how you unlock every mission in the game from the get go but w/e. I just wish modding was easier to acces for retards like myself, and give us a fucking server browser.
