Silent Hill

Is this one of the most underrated series in existence?

The production value is top notch. The music is so good I've listened to it for years. It is excellent narratively and technically and makes you feel a lot of different feels, actually more than almost all other games I played.

This series is the closest thing I've ever played to what could be considered art.

>Is this one of the most underrated series in existence?
what the fuck, no.

The first three entries in the series are highly rated and praised pretty much universally, some consider 2 in particular one of the greatest game ever made. Hardly underrated.

Zig Forums MAKE ''/VH/ Horror Games'' board happen

we want a place to talk about horror games without the faggotry of Zig Forums

>Silent Hill
>underrated
Bruh...
Silent Hill was considered the shit until Konami killed it for now reason.

Siren is the most underrated horror series. I went in not expecting much from them since they got meh ratings but the games are amazing.

this

>underrated
lol

Silent Hill is probably the most celebrated and cherished horror video game series of all time, maaaybe with Resident Evil as competition. It has influenced countless other games, it's stories have been analyzed and discussed to death, and it spawned two Hollywood movies. So no, it is not even close to being underrated. It's rated exactly as it should be. Just because you're 20 years late to the party doesn't mean everyone else is too.

Only brainlets hate 4. It is actually the scariest Silent Hill of them all.

>and it spawned two Hollywood movies
Now three.

It's overrated, if anything. Especially the first and third game. There's also a current surge of twats praising 4 as one of the best games in the series, when it's not just a bad Silent Hill game, but one of the worst games ever made. Silent Hill 2 barely scrapes by due to its "what-a-tweest!" cliche, but even that is obvious as fuck if you've ever experienced a story before in any medium.
Finally, all the Silent Hill shilling on this board lately is because there's a new one coming for next gen. Get fucked, shills.

The series is underrated if you consider how small its fan base is in comparison to similar titles.
Resident evil is by far more popular and consistently more lucrative than silent hill, even before both series went to shit, and only one of them managed to stay relevant and bring in revenue despite the many transformations it was subject to.

Silent hill isn't as popular as it should be. At least if we're talking about the original trilogy, later titles deserve what they got.

My nigga. Some things, like conditions for mission unlocks, were stupidly overcomplicated, but games themselves were great.

>Is this one of the most underrated series in existence?
No. This is almost as dumb as the "Zelda is underrated" comment I read on /vr/ this morning.

>praising 4 as one of the best games in the series, when it's not just a bad Silent Hill game, but one of the worst games ever made
you got filtered nigger
go and play SH2 a piss easy game with no challenge at all

terrible take, friend. SH2 is the overrated one, seeing how it's the one most people have played on their PS2 (a console almost everyone owned). SH1 is the most underrated one of the series, it's a bona fide horror masterpiece with a great soundtrack and clever art direction with the fog obscuring the town.

The problem was the relatively low budget and outdated game mechanics. The authentic setting, story, and characters however, put it in the top 10 horror series of all time, at least in the eyes of serious spectators.

REmake > SH1 > SH2 > Resident Evil 2 > Resident Evil 3 > Silent Hill 4 > Silent Hill 3

SH1 is not underrated it's always on the top of PS1 games lists just as SH2 with the PS2 games top lists
even that faggot Piediepie had a playthrough of it which introduced his army of normies to the game
SH3 and 4 are the real underrated ones especially 4 the one everyone shits on because the critic reviews said it's bad

the Remake is literally the worst game out of the ones you mentioned

4 was never bad. It was a refreshing and brave change from the usual formula. I played 3 after 4 actually and it felt more formulaic, predictable and hollywoodish. 4 tries to really get under your skin. The apartment mechanic was done perfectly.

t. zoomer fortnite retard faggot coomer casual filtered by tank controls

It actually wasnt like that. Back in the early 00's SH was as big as RE, but then Konami fucked everything up...

>REmake and SH1 at the top
based

it was directed by the same guy who did SH1, right?

fuck off faggot tank controls are the best SH1 is waaaaaay better game than that Remake trash

Yes, Keiichiro Toyama.

yes
it's weird how in 2008 the worst SH and RE games were released but one of them flopped and the other was a huge hit

It doesn't cater to normies, therefore it's so unique and good.

>Is this one of the most underrated series in existence?
It's one of the most popular cult-hit series in existence, that inspired fuck tons of things.
You need to be VERY young to not know about SH.

Would everyone go ballistic if the reboot is first person?

>outdated game mechanics
Siren does not play quite like any survival horror out there. Ironically, Silent Hill played more outdated by SH2 which was just 1 but easier.

is Shattered Memories worth playing? Heard it's the only western SH that doesn't suck
