ESO is so fucking bad. I don't know how anyone can play it. It also ravages the lore to make it more digestible to smooth brains. I picked up the game recently to see if it would be worth it to dive into and my god it's miserable. I started in Vvardenfell as a Dunmer and was abducted as a slave. Ok, but then I get out of the tutorial and every fucking dark elf for miles talks about how bad slavers are. What? Isn't this game taking place in 2E? Wouldn't the Dunmer on Vvardenfell not even give a shit about the other races? Sure, there's Imperial influence, but it shouldn't nearly be this widespread at the time.
Also, I had to choose a class? Dragonknight? Templar? What the fuck is going on? Where's hand to hand? Where's speechcraft? What the fuck is this? Even worse, I heard that you can enjoy the game if you just treat it like a single player experience and ignore the MMO aspects, but that just makes the game feel like a cheap chinese knock off of the elder scrolls, which it basically is. Also, factions? Fucking Ebonheart Pact? Why the fuck would Dunmer be allying with Nords and Argonians? WHY THE FUCK WOULD ANY OF THEM OPENLY WORK TOGETHER IN THIS PACT? Nords fucking hate elves, Argonians probably wouldn't be keen on working hand in hand with their slavemasters, etc. The only pact that makes any sense is the Aldmeri Dominion. The factions should have just been relegated to player run guilds or established guilds like the Fighters Guild, the Morag Tong, or whatever various bullshit they wanted to add.
I don't think it's hard to conceptually fuck up an Elder Scrolls MMO. It seems like it would be easy, but this game feels like it was made with no heart and no consideration to the deeper implications of the lore. It feels like someone played Skyrim, read 3 of the in game books before getting half way through the main story and then saying, "Time to make a fucking MMO about this." It's so surface level and miserable. Can't believe people play it.
