The whole fucking GAME is style over substance. You literally team up with the guy who murdered two of your teammate's parents (both of which is their major/sole motivation for doing what they are) and then desperately do whatever you can to make sure he gets away with all his hundreds of murders without any commupance, remorse or redemption at all.
At least the investigation team actually just beat Adachi up and had him arrested. Futaba telling Akechi that it was fine that he'd killed her mum, that she didn't hold it against him and he could "start again" was fucking ridiculous.
And they ruined the actually decent road-trip ending, just to show that Akechi survived
