Now that the dust has settled, is it a good game?
Now that the dust has settled, is it a good game?
Yes.
Friendly reminder that kojima is a hack.
Nope
It's the worst Kojima game and the worst game of this gen
Windfarm thread was good
the game is well thought out and has a lot of attention to detail, it just isn't fun to play.
i'm not a fan of his games in general
Yes. Zoomers won't understand.
Yep yep, that's it come on in and embarrass yourselves infront of the Porters kek
PS4 faggots will never understand this masterpiece. It's up there with farming simulator
The obligatory "I never said grapes were sour" post, love it
Yes.
Should I buy it? Is it challenging?
Yes. Its a fantastic experience that offers a load of pure as fuck gameplay. But its weird as fuck and can be monotonous and meticulous so most zoomers will drop it within the first 3 hours before the game truely opens up. Its the most filtering game out there to date.
Yes because theyre all exactly the same. Way to announce you're just a contrarian by nature.
No
It's a boring delivery simulator.
With trash plot and trash gameplay loop.
A fetch quests simulator
Save your money from this crap
The game is not very difficult from a strategic point of view. There is a Very Hard mode on PC versions but it really comes down to being either more sneaky or having enemies be more bulletspongey. I dont think I died once in my first playthrough on normal.
That being said, the difficulty isnt really the draw. Its preparing for your journey and making it with your cargo effectively and safely.
Yes please listen to the guy using buzzwords to describe the entire game in 4 sentences. He knows what he's talking about.
Because it's the truth
>delivery garbage from point A to point B
>repeat endlessly
The worst game of the generation
can someone enlighten me on this game? I've watched the gameplays and it looks like a walking simulator
Walking simulators = you press W and the story makes progress
Death stranding = action adventure game
It still is a walking simulator by definition, but it's much more engaging than the classic ''walking sims'' you've played before.
It's a shit delivery simulator.
And also an empty trash openworld "game"
you didn't answer my question. Whats the appeal? I literally skipped through a 2 hour gameplay and didn't see any action, only following a line and cinematics. Is it some kind of 'emperors new clothes' kojima fanboy test?
Yep a good 50-60 hour game reduced to this anons 2 points. Critic of the year
very hard is surprisingly hard actually, especially against boss fights
i was proud of not dying once on the road until i got to the point of gunfights and i died a lot
the appeal is what you make it
do you have to be told what to think or enjoy?
I meant, from the obstacle point of view, I didn't want to buy it day 1 because people would build all shit to make the game too easy or so.
ok dude I'll just write you off as brainwashed, enjoy your delivery job
you can't see other people's structure when you go to an area for the first time so there's that, and even with their structure it's not always easy so you'll be thankful when you go back to an area multiple times
in fact it was much harder day 1 because you had to build most things yourself due to player synchronization
Fucking hell what's with the obligatory "sell it to me, no not good enough REALLY sell it to me" spacker post. If you glossed over some fucking gameplay or can't read don't get it and fuck off haha. It always turns out to be some spack child who's just waiting to be a little seether, don't feed em'
Ugh I will try but you seem like the type to focus one or two points and hold a negative opinion relentlessly like most people on this board.
Its not just a walking sim. You cant just "walk" from point A to point B by pressing foward. There is dynamic terrain you must traverse. Part of the challenge is that. So you cant just sprint over a rocky hill, you'll trip on your ass and damage the cargo. You cant just climb over rock, sometimes you will need a ladder or need to repel down a cliffside, things you need to plan for. There are rivers with rough currents that will wash you away and snow capped moutains that greatly affect your movement. Then you add cargo into it. There is a realistic weight based mechanic to a somewhat ordinary human. If you are carrying 200lbs of shit on your back, slight inclines or rocky surfaces will lead your character to stumble and perhaps fall. If you fall or drop your cargo it will get damaged which is the whole objective. Then you add in the BT's, these supernatural almost invisible cosmic ghosts that might not directly kill you but will damage the cargo and deter you from completeing your journey. Sometimes leading you to even larger cosmic monsters and if youre not prepared will cause you to "die" which greatly affects the game even after you respawn. You've got bandit camps that try to steal your cargo. Terrorists who straight try to murder you. All while youre just trying to find a way across this desolate land to get to point B.
Over time you get access to certain tools that will help you, such as bridges, watchtowers, floating containers, roads for easier transportation and even a few vehicles. You get access to various weapons such as piss and blood gernades, bola guns, umbilical cord knife, and quadruple rocket launchers.

And through all of this you have to be prepared for what might happen. You have to plan ahead, find a doable route, and hope you brought enough without without overencumbering your guy. Obviously I'm leaving tons of shit out, but anyone who calls this a Walking Sim is just showcasing how simple and dense they truley are. Its okay not to enjoy the game but its an action adventure through and through.
2/2
It's honestly highly subjective. Personally I find the gameplay loop to be highly addictive and more than enough to bridge the player's concentration along the story, although obviously it's also entirely possible the gameplay loop is just too monotonous for some people, which is fine. I thought the story was great in its own unique way, with a lot of flair that makes it work as a legitimate piece of art.
But yeah, it's divisive as fuck. Not that that makes it a bad game per se.
This was my first Kojima game and i went in without expectations, I just got hooked on making deliveries. After 10 hours or so the mechanics just clicked together in a very addictive way. Furthermore, i was also very much motivated by the story. I think it gives you just enough information to make you eager for more. The story is pretty good if you don't mind the bad pacing. I also took a lot of the writing as comedy. Usually i think worldbuilding through text logs is forced but in this case i read them all as soon as i could. It's also just a relaxing game, which accentuates the tension of the action segments. And as i've said before, the walking is much more detailed than in any other games, so you can't completely shut down your brain while playing.
thanks for explaining. It still sounds like a complete borefest to me, but at least I get what people get out of it
The game has a progression system built in place. You wont see ziplines and entire road systems by level 2. Slowly as you get farther in the game, the tools you unlock will start to leak into your world from other players.
It's a shit boring torture.
A pain to play
Don't waste your time with this trash
Exactly what I figured you'd say. If I wasnt stuck in isolation anyway I'd feel as though I wasted my time. But perhaps someone with a brain will peek into this thread and actually read it.
