wasn't this game shit? never played it but I hear it's super repetitive and lacking any challenge. not to mention it's mario so you know the world and characters are as interesting as cardboard

It was good for the most part but it was pretty bland and forgettable, like most mainline Mario games.

I still pop it in to mess around with the online mode. It's satisfying finding a particularly devilish place to hide the balloon and watching the coins roll in.

I think the best way to describe it is that It met my expectations, but it didn't exceed them. Some people are calling it the best mario game of all time but I disagree strongly Galaxy is way better imo

One can only talk about a game so much until it's exhausted all points of discussion.

It was new, the replay value dries up unlike BoTW which is survived by character mods and a world that encourages scavenging.

Odyssey, once you get all the moons, that's it. Otherwise you're just hitting up Luigi for coins to buy skins.

The main game is like Banjo Kazooie's early levels, where Jiggies are just kind of there and you effortlessly pick them up, except it stays that way the entire time.

I just finished re-watching my favorite let'splayer's playtrough of this game.

Almost done with my third 100% run (first one on Yuzu). I still fucking love Odyssey.

I wanted to 100% it but i refuse to get the star for the skipping rope 100 jumps game and the volly ball

This past time, I did the 100 skip rope on my first try. Volleyball isn’t so bad but it can be a drag.

But ironically the hardest moons for my Yuzu one were the ones designed around either rumble or motion controls. There are a couple in Bowser’s kingdom that fucking SUCK, especially “Taking Notes with a Spinning Cap Throw”. That one required so much bullshit to accomplish I doubt I could redo it again if I had to.

Yeah but it’s hard to do, and endurance runs always test my patience. Especially when I die because of some bullshit with the timing on fucking Pokio climbing at the end which is always where I fucking die.

100% agree. Galaxy and Galaxy 2 are, for me, the last great 3D Mario games. This isn't to say that Odyssey isn't good, but that it's not as good as Galaxy. To be honest I still pick Mario 64 over both.

I literally think its a masterpiece, i had mind boggling amounts of fun 100%ing the game.

It's not "shit", it's just kinda meh. There's a lot to do, if you just wanna doodle around and explore every inch of the maps. There are some tough bits of course, but I'd say 90% of the game is just running up to something and collecting it.

Also that said, the actual levels themselves are pretty small. Yeah, lots to do in each world but I can't help but feel restrained on a map you can circumvent in about 3 minutes.

So challenging? No... but if you like collectathons and gimmicky gameplay, it's not complete shit. It's got that Nintendo polish after all, it's just kinda soulless.

Had fun playing it but don't feel like ever replaying it. Had potential for DLC but I guess consoom be excited for next product

This is a good description. Feels more lik a Banjo Kazooie game than Mario. I really like BK so I ended up loving the game. Only complaints are I wish the small levels were larger and there was a better post game Kingdom.
