it's crazy how they spend so long to make spidey fun to play and control but they decide to take that away from the player occasionally like that would be a fun thing to play

They seemed to be following the Ratchet and Clank formula where Spiderman is Ratchet and Mary Jane/Miles are Clank his sidekick/s. Which worked out alright, and if you 100%ed the game than you played spiderman 90% of the time anyways.

What do you mean? Sony is like the only publisher that still releases complete sp games without mtx/lootboxes/seasonbattlepass cancer. They also do lots of free updates and expansion like stand-alone titles and shit. They've been really good in that regard.
