Playing Mega Man 2-6 all in a row doesn't feel like I'm playing the same game repeatedly. It's sort of an unfair comparison

I choose Mega Man. Shovel Knight is good but I really hate how every 8-bit style game made today has to have RPG elements and permanent health upgrades and shit. Mega Man is more "pure" even though the later games let you buy E-tanks and lives.

>4, V, 10, 11
It's tricky.

isn't shovel night more of a metroidvania? i hate it when people conflate actual platformers with the latter. in action platformers, you actually have to have skill to progress. in metroidvanias all you need to do is find the right item

>isn't shovel night more of a metroidvania
No.

Shovel Knight, but only comparrd to classic, X would annihilate SK. The entire franchise from C to Z would literally rape SK on every level

>I really hate how every 8-bit style game made today has to have RPG elements and permanent health upgrades and shit.
This, christ.

megaman, and it isn't even close

Shovel Knight absolutely is hands down better than any megaman game.

>isn't shovel night more of a metroidvania?

Fuck no it isn't.

Player Strength > Avatar Strength
All day errday. Upgrading your character is just a mechanism to stop weak players from seething about being shit and not buying the next game in your series.

Don't get me wrong, I love games about avatar strength and JRPG is one of my favorite genres, but I want it to stay in RPGs. I don't want spillover into a skill-based game.

That's Hollow Knight, nigger

This is the reason I can't get into any Inti-Creates game

>the best 4 classic Megaman games
11, 8, 9 and 4.

Mega man easy. Shovel knights fun enough, but I could never really figure out what made people live it so much

So just don't buy the upgrades in Shovel Knight... Or go after the speedrun achievement or the "don't buy or upgrade anything" achievement

Zero 1 and 2 have minimal RPG shit like the weapon levels, but they're gone in 3 and 4. The biggest problem with those games is the small screen.

>The best 4 classic Megaman games
Are you gonna tell us which games you mean by this, or is this a stealth Megaman debate thread? Because the correct answer is not 2, faggots

>but I could never really figure out what made people live it so much
it was early in the kickstarter vidya cycle and actually delivered everything they promised
shovel knight's main appeal seems to be nostalgia, but the three expansions are legitimately good games on their own once they shed the strict retro styling

Best one is 9 hands down

You're just sayin' that because of all the fapping to Splashwo Man.

10, 9, 3, and wild card. All the numbered classic games are good. MM&B.

This but replace 4 with 10

one of the worst Megamans shouldn't be used to go up against Shovel Knight campaigns. They're not THAT bad.

What exactly IS a splashwo anyway?

A miserable little pile of blubber.

8 is top tier.

God no

2, 3, 5 and 9 vs Shovel Knight campaigns. Megaman takes it.

You can't handle all this SOUL

we still don't have a megaman action game like this intro
