Yes, I did. The most tedious part was recruiting all of the characters to unlock the final tower.
Trying to grind materials with low leveled characters is a pain since everything pretty much one shots you.

I didn't even bother with the one after skytower, the first one came up a s a destroy the pots, and even characters that are level 80+ barely deal damage to anything

Jin; Deng Ai's crossbow, or Wen Yang are both fun, too bad you don't get to use either of them much

Yeah, you need some decent elements as well as promoting your characters once they reach level 100 to increase their stats.
