Name ONE game that had more hype surrounding it leading up to launch. There literally isn't one.

better times.
when it was just all about the game
Exceeded expectations too
i'm glad this game never had to experience the era of live service. it is forever preserved
>being able to be outside in New York at midnight
never again
Modern Warfare 2
Worked at a movie theater til close the night before midnight launch and every single guy there was going to get it after
>Nearly entire world loosing their shit in anticipation of 3
>Believe trailers breathe soul into marketing
>Other live action promotions were getting to point of incredible
>Bunch of immersion events
It's so sad to see Halo hype coming & going like a wet fart these days.
Believe ad campaign is still the best in gaming history.
the marketing was everywhere. it's the only game i remember seeing a banner for inside the local costco.
it helps that the commercials were incredible.

Just dropping by to say I hate 343i for failing to understand the core principles of Halo and fucking the series to death
>That masterful use of Chopin's raindrops.
Shivers, every time.
Wii Sports
343i is defintiely shit but let's be honest, even if Bungie were still the ones making it today it would have lost its soul by now regardless. The chad Bungie employees of old are all gone by now. It should have ended after Reach/ODST.
halo 2 but at e3
Halo odst with the commericals. You can't argue this. Maybe Halo Landfall comes right after this as far as halo related hype.
Hard truth.
>MCC comes out, but i dont have access to my old xbox/microsoft account with everything on it, including all the sweet custom maps.
what i would give to play jenga, or bumper cars with my friends again.
GTA IV or V?
GTA just doesn't have that die hard audience that Halo used to have.
Did you Believe back then?
Why won't anyone play proper custom games on MCC
Why won't everyone stop acting onions and weird
>when Chief looks up
Just gave me chills
What do you mean?
It's never been safe to be outside in New York.
If they were on your file share, they're still accessible.
RDR2
There was a time when each Halo release felt like an event.
The Believe campaign was unprecedented. I want to say nothing that earnest would be made today, and it would be full of smug self-awareness and irony, but I feel it was exceptional back then too. Halo really did rule the fucking world and felt like a huge event.
3, ODST, and Reach all peaked marketing.

Why am i tearing up all of a sudden? Peak vidya marketing indeed. I miss that grimey gloomy feel those commercials had too.
Better believe when Rockstar releases GTA6 the tidal wave of hype will return. Especially since it'll be 10+ years after GTAV's release.
Grand Theft Auto V was way, way bigger.
It literally had billboards in my shitty little backwater town. Which I don't think I've ever seen for another game.
He said hype not bigger
Brawl's hype is a close-second. but yes, nothing will ever top Halo 3's hype.
I miss when Smash speculation seemed less like a cesspool of insane Twitter bitching and Youtube clickbaiting.
why is halo 2 so inconsistent? you'll trad shots perfectly with a guy and die while his shields don't even pop
people give halo 3 shit for bad hit reg but 2 is awful
Japan Time was amazing. And yes, speculation used to be more fun and civil as opposed to hostile.
Sad that Halo will never reach its former glory ever again
What was it like to play Halo 3 when it first came out. I was a kid living with poor parents so I missed out.
