i have over 200 hours in this game and have enjoyed every second of it. it alone makes the switch + nintendo online membership worth having.

is it the craziest most original idea in the universe? no, but it iterates on an already perfected game (tetris) in a way that allows you to have hours and hours of fun, without any typical shitty f2p skinner box bullshit. given that it's free, i think that's pretty cool.
you can just go play freetetris.org if you wanna do marathon, or any of the other countless ways to play marathon in 2020. the $10 doesn't create a barrier to the meat of the game. more than anything, it's a way of showing support to nintendo for creating something fun and releasing it for free, plus giving frequent tournaments to give the opportunity to earn cosmetics.

Great game and basically the only reason I switch off my hacked emunand. Love the origami king theme. Its music is so good that I have a hard time choosing between it and the default theme.
Fuck them because I've been playing Tetris for 30 years and don't want to learn a new game breaking mechanic that makes it impossible to play competitively without abusing. It was fun for the first few weeks, but now it's literally impossible to break the top 5 without using T-spins.

surely you understand that your comparison doesn't make sense. i already had a nintendo subscription so i could play smash, so to me the game came at no additional cost.
