The one advantage I can think of for DOL-001 is the availability of plug and play HDMI solutions. The Wii solution requires a lot of finnicky modifying and its video output is still dogshit over HDMI.

What's asinine is that the Classic Controller DOES work on the Wii menu as well, so there was no problem with having regular inputs work. Thus, they were either too cheap, too forgetful, or too obsessed with gimmickery to make the GCN controller work. There IS a way to set up the Wii to autoboot into the Homebrew Launcher (which IS compatible with the GCN controller), but the fact that fucking hacks are needed to make the Wii's functionality fully account for its own goddamn features really says a lot about why the Wii era was so terrible for Nintendo outside of money.

If you own a Wii or even a WiiU, the only GameCube-anythinh you should be worrying about buying is a controller. MAYBE a memory card if on a Wii with hardware GC BC.
Everyone can and should be playing GameCube games via Nintendont. It's 99% identical to playing a disc, minus all the hassles of dealing with discs.
GameCube discs may not rot for decades, but they can still deteriorate and be rendered unplayable. Scratches, namely.
