why would it not?

>Game have Laser weapons
>can't just wear mirror armor to negate all damage or redirect it to the enemy

Name 5 games that do this.

>game has a laser weapon
>the "projectile" has travel time

I assume any damage a laser weapon can really do is maybe blind you or give you cancer over time..
So why bother

>game has recoilless railguns

yeah, light has a finite speed dummy. Hence the term "light speed".
It's not instant. It just feels instant because we're tiny shit heads.

Yes, which is why a travel time makes no sense unless you're shooting something from one planet on another planet.

Yeah, but we definitely can't see 3e8 m/s. It's like blinking a laser pointer at someone.

who is this pic related of? keep seeing him

It still wouldn't affect humans, it's like bullet speed in games, it would only really come into effect if you were shooting something beyond 600 meters and with lasers in games and real life it would be negligible

Is there any logical explanation for why a laser/energy gun would have recoil?

A cooling mechanism that needs to move in some way inside the gun to prevent it from melting in you hands maybe?

It could work if your "lasers" are Star Wars tier in so far as they shit you shoot is actually superheated gas. As for regular lasers, shit's retarded.

>game has laser weapons
>it's always retarded pew pew laserguns shit instead of just a single continuous beam
I fucking hate that shit

fear extraction point had a nice laser gun

Strictly speaking you are shooting photons out, that would cause recoil however insignificant.

There's also heat

>future game
>guns still use chemical propellants

Do you know why guns have recoil?

Did you know photons have mass?

Fallout 3/NV

Yeah, and their emission doesn't involve propellant charges

F3
FNV
F4
XCOM
XCOM2
XCOM CS
Battlefront games
...

So? Chemical propellant isn't why recoil happens.

Technically, yeah
The problem is holding it stable when the projectile is locked but the magnets push it
Technically possible from a fixed position

so you're saying a real life kamehameha would push you back?

this

No? What pushes the bullet out?

Yes.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ion_thruster

Equal and opposite reaction. A laser weapon that behaves similarly to our current ballistic weapons WOULD have recoil. When you switch on a torch, it has an infinitesimally small amount of recoil. NASA is researching the phenomenon so it can be used as a propellant free form of propulsion in space.

It doesn't matter WHAT pushes the bullet out, the act of PUSHING always PUSHES BACK.

Pushing photons out with electricity instead of bullets with chemicals STILL RECOILS.

Maybe the combustion or whatever creates the laser beam produces a kick?

>game has traditional firearms
>zero recoil laser beam on full auto

>XCOM
>recoil

Recoil is not a chemical reaction.

Nothing to do with lasers

This cannon is cool, it wouldn't without the recoil

They don't

What are you talking about schizo?

That's not how lasers work

The only type of mass that cannot have recoil is one that has no momentum.

Now I don't know about you, but light definitely has fucking momentum.

The Fallout ones don't really have recoil IIRC, they just have spread. Which kinda makes sense if it's supposed to be a beam refracting and shit.

Could be wrong though, been a while since I've played one.

Mini Chernobyl has to happen inside the gun to project the energy.
