It's still pretty similar to Destiny's overall gameplay style but Phantasy Star Online 1 is still a super solid, super-comfy game
Playing it on an emulator is neat, but Ephinea is a pserver with as-close realism as you can reasonably get these days.
Some items in the original PSO were astronimcally rare, and the only thing Ephinea really changes is making stuff not 1/100000 but instead 1/2600 and such. Adjustments aren't that absurd and things are rare, but that's really the only notable change.
It's still pretty fun, honestly. I enjoyed Destiny for the atmosphere and chilling in the corners of neat places but PSO scratches the same itch, and gives me 90's vibes as well. Pairs decently with a CRT hum or something, as well.
You can find boosters easily, too - it's pretty quick getting to a relevant level.
If you wanted something more modern, you'd probably have to look around harder.

Not the OP. Love that game. It’s objectively a 6 or 7 out of 10. But there is something that just works so well about it. I’m hoping they get a significant budget increase for 3. It has so much promise.
