I'm just as autistic about this guy as you are. It's clear there's more to him than meets the eye. My personal theory is that he's the OG concept of Noct floating inbetween Squeenix projects because he doesn't belong anywhere anymore. Stella was technically killed when she was replaced by luna, thus is why she is a star in the land of the dead in KH3.

As for Noct, his original concept was killed off when the game turned into FFXV. That's why he ended up in the reaper game in Shinjuku.

His entrance fee was his appearance and thus he was made to look like Yozora. Shinjuku will be a featured area in the sequel to TWEWY and that's where he'll appear next as the super boss. So in short we won't be seeing him again till we get this anime out of the way next year and development finally starts on a sequel to TWEWY. All this of course is a lead up to a versus reboot.

As interesting as a concept of the characters being from a cut project, Square wouldn't let that shit happen because it would make them look bad for changing the project. Plus, because it's all technically part of Kingdom Hearts, that's not even counting Disney into the picture, all of this would have to run by them as well unless some new deal has been made behind the scenes.

I wouldn't say I'm autistically invested, but I would really like to know what the plan is (is Yozora going to get his own game? Is he going to be a protagonist in a Kingdom Hearts game? Will Verum Rex simply be a part of Kingdom Hearts and nothing more?)

It's technically routed in the world of TWEWY as well. Nomura can spread his lies and say that we didn't fight in Shibuya and that was ShIbUyA, but we fought on top of the friggin 104 building. I'm all but convinced Yozo will make an appearance in TWEWY 2, whenever the hell that gets released. Then things really start to get interesting.
He's done well, you're believing exactly what he wants you to believe. He wants the fans to think that yozo is a knock off of noct and we'll get a reimagining of Versus called verum rex. Nothing has to be worked out with disney. It's like FF characters visiting the world of KH, Yozo is but a traveler. He's not grounded to the world of KH. As for squeenix having egg on their face, Nomura is already throwing shade at them. As if they're really gonna tell the one guy keeping their company alive "no".

Holy shit you're overhyping Nomura way too much. Sure, he's one of their main directors but they do have big successes under other people. He was in pretty much the same position when he had Versus XIII pulled from under him, they'd definitely tell him no if it makes the company look bad.

Right and that's what Versus was about. A nation with a religion that worshiped reapers, death gods etc. It was going to be a much darker FF than any before. But now we're just getting a slightly edgier KH without Disney characters. I bet the combat will be a blast but its not going to be anything like what Versus was.

Disney only cares what happens with their IP‘s not the square characters. I mean look at the crazy shit Mickey did in the remind dlc. Disney only said that they shouldn’t let him die and Nomura went the crazy route with him. They only really care about their big IP‘s

Yozora will have a big role in future KH games he was the last secret boss and Nomura always makes them important for the next big game

He currently leads two of their biggest projects (KH and FFVII). He'll also probably spearhead whatever they do with TWEWY. He's got a sizable stake in the company. There's no KH without Nomura and it's no lie that KH is Squeenix best selling property.

Hard to say, knowing disney it's probably a 60/40 if they're lucky. But that's the one that sells simply because it's tied to Disney. For many of us that's how we came to even know about squeenix. I know it was for me. I was a KH fan before I was a FF fan. It has a broad appeal FF could only hope to attain. Mostly because it appeals to casuals. What kid wouldn't buy into a game about going to disney worlds with donald and goofy and beating monsters to death with a big ass key?

FF still consistently sells more than KH. Sure, it brings newer players into the company's games but that only goes so far, FF has much more appeal and recognition amongst people who actually buy a lot of games.
