Don't forget that games like this have experienced a bump due to the pandemic, along with a ton of other popular general simulator and relaxation games even dating back to the Gamecube.
Everything Pokemon related has also risen in demand as well. Even some old trading cards that literally no one gave a fuck about last year are now over $100, and there's no real reason that should be the case considering they can't even play casually in person with them at a card store.

Friendly reminder that the only games that could be considered an actual good sequel in terms of added gameplay and features without removing things was Gen 2 and that was saved by Iwata. GameFreak have literally never been competent developers and have been releasing shitty products since gen 3 but you were a kid and thought Gen 3 was great.

Last legitimately great Pokemon title was Black and White 2.

I lasted slightly longer. I thought Gen 6 might be pretty decent when Z or X2Y2 came out but obviously that never happened. Then when I saw the Hoenn remakes were finally coming my hype was through the roof since Emerald is my favorite game in the series. The sheer, massive disappointment ORAS gave me is still bitter to this day for me.
