I remember when i was a kid and was obsessed with it, i always made stories for every run on arcade mode and i bet i finished 2x2 with my brother thousands of times. The first chars that i downloaded was Super Skullo and a version of mario that added big bertha in every stage. It was beautiful. The last thing i saw about elecbyte and mugen was some new version with HD stages, is there anything new from elecbyte's part?
tried getting into it but was pretty confused about a few things, did this game even have a stage select because I could never figure that out
Henry Davis
Yes. After you choose the character you will be able to select the stage.
Noah Campbell
well I don't know what I was doing, but I never got to select a stage, i selected a character and it would randomly pick a stage I had downloaded, don't know how i managed that
Jeremiah Foster
This Kuromaru and Ronald stuff is really basic
David Thompson
I'm talking about versus mode, if it was arcade then it had no stage selection.
I miss Randomselect. It had everything you need to start making your own MUGEN stuff. Fightersguild looks okay, but it's just not the same
Benjamin Thompson
Post mods in this thread. I find it funny to resize characters

From the perspective of someone who wants to actually try to make half decent content, the engine's limitations and problems have just become more and more noticeable over the years. But they're not the sort of limitations or problems that people who just want to download and fuck around with memes care about. It just sucks that there's no real attempt at making a proper successor engine that's better built from the ground up.

I put MUGEN on my phone. None of that weak shit, it's MUGEN 1.1 and can do whatever MUGEN 1.1 can do. It runs greats and I got some good maps. My favorite maps are moving ones like Uptown Express and my favorite character is probably Black Manta or Bruno Bucciarati
Angel Green
Yeah, i remember that i saw some attempts to expand the engine like multiplayer online, but i didn't see none of them get much popular. Well, maybe the guys that still making Mortal Kombat mugen in 20 made some improvements, but to be honest i don't have the knowledge to point or them. In some parallel universe elecbyte got rich and we have mugen 10.0
Adrian Smith
How come there hasnt been a MUGEN 2 yet? The concept itself is fucking kino but the technology is bust too fucking outdated at this point.
Aiden Diaz
Mugen 1.0 is close

Always wanted to make my own character, never ended up doing so and don't have the time nor energy to do it now, but I still wish I did have that.
Gabriel Morgan
I did make 3 by myself and worked on about 7 collavorations and regret it, you are better off lad.
Thomas Powell
I exclusively "play" the queen of fighters mugen.

I do know some mugen creators are kind of a nightmare to work with, so I'm glad I didn't get too into the scene like that atleast Oh well, best case scenario my amateur art skills will allow me to work on a fighting game
Luis Peterson
Working with people is a nightmare, user, the same thing that happens in mugen community happens in every work that people want to be well done
Noah James
Remember those autistic MUGEN videos we'd upload in youtube? People would then create their own autistic teams beat each other up, and we would set up a tournie every once in a while, which were usually ruined by Touhuofags and their broken ass characters. The days of Bandicam, mugen infantry, dozens of mugen forums, complaining about Kong's broken AI and debating on who was the cheapest. Those were the days...
Okay, please, for the love of god, does anyone know if the video of Dark Excellent Ronald vs Dark Silverwing is saved anywhere? It was the best mugen video and the creator deleted it.

IKEMEN is getting developed, but I think multiplayer is the breadth of the big changes. It would be hard to push a new engine even if it loads better if it isn't compatible with older characters. My biggest issue with mugen itself is that it's really hard to put together a balanced roster unless you use one authors stuff and pretty much just that. Yes, the brokeness of it is part of the appeal, but it makes actually playing arcade or versus a pain. Also, my nigga fat albert deserves more love, he is so fucking fun to play.
