What is it that makes Rain World so good?
What is it that makes Rain World so good?
What is wrong with my Slugcat's face?
Everything
But also the natural environment and AI combined with the lack of narrative direction makes it seem very real and organic
ate a sour fruit
>this is your slugcat on marijuana
Atmosphere and music
i heard this game was too hard and made it not fun. is that true?
It's fun because it's hard. If you can get past it, it all becomes worth it.
It emulates natural selection perfectly.
>Get to a pitch black level
>Beat it after 30 minutes of eyestrain
>Get to an even darker level
0/10 game design. inb4 "just cheat bro and look it up online, we all did it an now we're acting smug about it"
I fucking wish Noita had this level of art. Love Noita but bummed out about it not being as much of an eye candy as Rain World.
It's really good at busting your balls whenever you start to feel good
Just get a light source bro. They're everywhere. We all did it so we're acting smug about it.
No
I didn't. I stumbled my way through without a light, ate Moon's neurons, then went back. For me, it was a nice break from being assaulted by so many hostile creatures, after going through Farm Arrays, Sky Islands, and Chimney Canopy, so I didn't mind the darkness.
It's not structured as a game typically is where everything like the level layout and enemy placement are catered to the player's experience. Sometimes you can just run into a motherfucker who was just off-screen or every exit from a screen is blocked off and there's fuck all you can do.
However, the fact that it's designed without you in mind can make for some extremely engaging moments that you just don't get from other games because there's always an intended way to "solve" them.
>Crawl into cave
>Keep crawling through cave deeper into it
>Get further into cave
>It's darker
>SHIT GAME DESIGN
Try realizing that you don't even need to go to the Shaded Citadel to get through the game next time fat?
There's a semi-hidden Scav den in the industrial complex that has laterns. You can also snag them off of roaming Scavs or trade for them.
Yeah the gigantic fucking spiders skittering past on the ceilings and into the darkness is what really makes it relaxing.
They're not nearly as dangerous as lizards or scavs or vultures or falling to my death.
The spiders are usually only around when you go REALLY deep, and they're harmless when you bust them apart. The big ones are usually just a bundle of little ones.
WHERE THE FUCK IS MORE SLUGCATS MOD
Hate how this motherfucker will spot you from 3 screens away and never lets up until you're dead or in a den
Boi, you got fucking wrecked. Holy shit.
>WHERE THE FUCK IS MORE SLUGCATS UPDATE
FTFY
Stay away from Outskirts and IC on Hunter mode.
Why is this game so gorgeous? I bought this because of some shill spamming it last year and all the webms looked so good. Don't regret it at all.
Excellent atmospheric design and memorable difficulty applied to an actual slow-burn game that makes the tiniest of maneuvers into challenges and more time spent per room, thus a closer "feel" for everything in it develops. Same way how MonHun fans and Animal Crossing players develop bonds with the beasts and villagers respectively.
On top of everything else already mentioned, that fucking ending.
kino
Damn son
Red centipedes have got to be the most terrifying enemy. They can kill pretty much anything and go anywhere at crazy speeds
dear fucking lord
honestly I don't think I have seen anything as "organic" as shown in this webm
Is this worth full price on Shitch or wait for a sale? Never played it
Where are there mushrooms on the right side of Sky Islands? It seems impossible to go left if you don't have a squidcada.
Yeah it's worth it. Dips of course but that's what you signed up for. That said, holding your breath for Switch sales is almost never worth it. It's almost always 10-20% off.
t. holding my breath
I bought it at full price. Mind that it's REALLY punishing
About to start my first playthrough and I know literally nothing about this game other than you're meant to die a lot.
Any tips to get the best experience?
Close this thread and avoid anything to do with the game.
No wiki.
best way to play is to know literally nothing about the game in advance. Just dont look anything up.
But have fun with the games movement. Experiment with everything in this game, theres a lot of detail in the minor things.
Miros birds are artificial difficulty and I will never play a non-pirated copy of the game until they are removed
OK but I heard that you can choose different starting characters or something?
Which do I start with?
