The original ending was nice that after all the bullshit, the original series adventures, the 50 years of Jack having lost faith and finally getting it back, he fulfilled his mission of once and for all defeating Aku and his black goop bullshit that has plagued the universe. This is no longer a thing and I guess you take that as a good point. At least with all the future people, creatures, aliens, and characters being erased, it was all justified knowing that Aku was finally gone. But I guess not now. Nope. Jack got his cake and gets to eat it too.

I liked the ending in the sense that it portrayed Jack as a tragic hero. Not everything works out and most things are out of your control. He saved everyone but lost his chance with the one he loved. That’s one thing I enjoyed about Fallout 1, you’re a hero but the overseer has a point. You’ve changed too much and a rebel movement against remaining in the vault had already started before (and is still growing if you didn’t fix it). His banishment leaves him circling the area around the vault for months screaming and crying to try and get back into the vault. Eventually things work out, but not nearly how the dweller has thought they would. Anyway I like when endings have some tragic consequences added to them, it’s much more realistic.

The finale was heavily rushed and restricted by a set number of episodes. Pretty sure they wanted a 40 minute last episode but they were stuck finishing it in 20.

Really the whole season could've been improved by being longer and exploring the shit they sped through a bit better.
