hardware manufacturers will kill pc gaming. just a few years ago nvidia and amd were selling mid range cards for $300-400 and now those same tiers of cards are $500-600. unless you're an uber enthusiast who is happy to spend several thousand on gaming setup there is more and more reasons to invest in a decently powered console like a series x for next gen.

gtx 1070 = $379
rtx 2070 = $499
rtx 3070 = $599 (according to recent leaks)
series x = $499-599
