That's the core of it, no matter how much they will tell you otherwise. People like feeling special for beating any game with the From Software logo attached to it. They're attracted to the brand more than the game.

I've been trying to like Dark Souls. Trying very hard. It's just not happening. The game is tedious and boring. Combat with mobs consists of block or parry, and counter. Combat with bosses consists of rolling behind them and shunting their assholes. That's the game. Mix in projectiles if you want even less interaction.

Nah. That deflection doesn't work on me. I've beat every DMC game on DMD, I've played Ninia Gaiden to death, I can get through NES Gradius without cheats or rewinds, I've beat F Zero's King Cup on Hard. I do hard games. I like hard games. The difficulty makes success so much more enjoyable.
Dark Souls doesn't have that quality. It's not "hard" in the sense that it requires unyielding skill, it's just an obtuse test of patience and memorization. It's a boring joyless experience and I won't be bothering with the rest of the games.

I feel that way too. I've beaten arguably harder games but in Souls the game makes such a point of letting you know that you fucked up and taking ages for you to get back into it that it just feels draining.

Redditors love the series because they're very easy but are known as being hard, so your average shitter can beat one and feel they are a pro gamer.

Any mention of the bad animation, bad hitboxes, clunky movement and how generally boring traversing the world is, sends them into a blind rage.
Worst part of souls game for me is every single fight in the series being mash r1, then press the invincibility button, then wait for stamina to come back. Nothing else.

I agree the game is boring as fuck, dying is just frustrating because you have to repeat long segments of the same shit over and over, it does feel like a test of patience, because the point of it is for you to get frustrated and try to rush it, and then get killed by normal enemies.
