Considering her favourite games like Disgaea and Atelier and such I totally buy it.
It looks like she like games with relationship dramas and it appears like she has an autistic fondness for games with a whole meta game for how you break them, with lots of grinding options and potential.
You could always claim she is just reading off of a script, but I can totally see a woman her age having fallen for romance vidya while her contemporaries read romance novels. Then getting lost in the mechanical metagames surrounding said games while falling down the rabbit hole. And once you're in the rabbit hole you naturally start expanding your horizons little by little, looking at other games.
