The people who cum over 4k do it because they've invested a ton of money into it.

2070 isn't going to run 4k very well unless you're playing on lower settings. Not worth it.
t. 2070 owner who gave up on 4k and switched to 144hz 1080p

Why not 120-144hz 1440p? I don’t have a 2070 but I think it’s a beefy card.

Get a 4K monitor with 1080p integer scaling

Stick to 1440, it has far fewer scaling issues if you ever decide to play old games. But 1080 is still great unless you're playing across the room from your monitor.

4k is still hit and miss, you won't be able to expect it in every game but it's gonna start getting much better

Personally I'm skipping 1440p because since it doesn't scale 1/1 with 1080 it'll probably be completely forgotten about the moment 4k becomes mainstream while 1080p lives on as the lower resolution format

>Personally I'm skipping 1440p because since it doesn't scale 1/1 with 1080
But why is this an issue if you're using the monitor for your pc? You still have the option to play at 2048x1152 which scales perfectly.

2070super owner here, 4K runs great.

Resolution for productivity, refresh rate for games.
I find 1440p 144hz to be the sweet spot that can reasonably driven by current graphics cards.

That's not the native resolution of the screen though, so you're not gonna get the best results. Might as well not give a shit about the scaling then.

But I don't understand what your issue is. Just play at the native 1440p, what's the issue here? The only way I'd see this being an issue is if you're using the monitor on your ps3 and having to upscale from 1080p.

What is actually the issue? Why does it matter that it doesn't scale 1/1 with 1080 if you're playing at 1440?

Not a meme if you want like a 43 inch monitor or something
If you want a 27 inch monitor though, yes it is a meme

Why would ANYONE go over 27 for gaming? Are they couch gaming?

>But I don't understand what your issue is
>what's the issue here?
>he only way I'd see this being an issue if
>What is actually the issue?

Personally, I don't give I shit. I'm not that user.

But yeah, consoles and also some games let you render in 1080p and then upscale to higher resolutions. All irrelevant as far as I'm concerned.

Yes it's still a meme. If you want to be cozy just get a 27GL83A.

4K120 is the new sweetspot when it comes to image quality/achievable framerate/monitor and tv selection
>2070
yeah you're going to want to get a 6700XT when it comes out if you have the cash to upgrade so soon

Human eye can't see more than 540p

I'm pretty content with 1080 to be honest

this unironically, depending on how big the screen is
are you really going to be able to tell the difference on say, a 2 inch screen or something?

I can play at ANY resolution I want on my computer. It's more a matter of its relevancy and support, and I get the strong feeling 1440p is going to the wayside in the next year or two.
Of course, that's mostly just speculation and paranoia on my part. I doubt a 1440p screen will ever be unusable or anything.

Also the scaling issue I'm referring to is how you can fit 4x1080 perfectly into 4k, which means the two resolutions are effectively interscalable without having to worry about fraction-pixel conversions you'd get between 1440p and other standard resolutions.

2070s here, 1440p is more than enough, it won't handle 4K at 60fps high-ultra.

the only issue if I had to guess is backwards compatibility, so you wouldn't wanna use a 1440p monitor on old consoles because the upscaling would make things look rough.

But if you're only using the monitor for PC, I don't understand what would or even could go wrong, 1440p won't go away in the next 10-15 years.

Yes. 1440p is even good at 43"

Yes. 1440p 144hz is the patrician choice.

this

4K is a meme for monitors. They’re too small and you’re not close enough to appreciate a difference. Same as anything above HD on phones. Get a 144Hz monitor for some kino smoothies.

>4k 144hz monitors are like 800 dollarydoos

>1440p.
I have a 4k and I play at 1440p, it looks fucking sick. You're fine getting a 1440 monitor.

>Is 4k still a meme?
Without question.
>Want to get a new monitor with my 2070 but was thinking just getting 1440p.
I think it's more important to know what framerate you want to get and if your rig can maintain it and then select a resolution.

this, 1080p on a 4K monitor because of the x2 scaling but again, why not a 144hz 1440p monitor instead?

Where's 720p?

for what purpose? no modern game can run at 120fps+ on 4k, not even a 2080ti can pull off that.

Monitor technology in general is shit these days. Got myself a 1440p IPS and this motherfucker reflects the entire room in dark scenes. If you play something properly dark like night raids in Tarkov, you won't see shit. My old 1080p monitor was much nicer in that regard. I say don't buy any monitors for now unless you have to, just stick with old stuff.

4K is a meme
At 32" you get similar ppi than 1440p, and you don't want 32" if you care about your neck
If you want a bigger screen, stay at 1440p and go wiiiiider.

>144hz 1440p
144hz is also a meme though. You won't even get stable 60 fps from next gen at 1440p ultra, not with current GPUs and probably not with the new GPUs either

4k has always been a meme
The real question is... are curved displays a meme?

>UI doesn't scale
Sad

>You won't even get stable 60 fps from next gen at 1440p ultra, not with current GPUs and probably not with the new GPUs either
How can someone be this retarded?

this, im selling one of my 28 inch, displays. I literally cant tell from 1080p sitting at my desktop. I will go for the 144hz meme instead.

Explain how I'm wrong

Stop using AAA trash as a baseline, you'll get plenty of games running over 100fps easily and it's better to always have the highest refresh rate regardless because the BFI mode might be better or function better at 144hz like it does on my monitor, since you can't run BFI and freesync at the same time, tearing and input lag and both less annoying even at lower FPS than native res.
And speaking of native res, if your game can't get decent FPS at 1440p just turn the res down. There's many ways to get good scaling

What I'm really looking forward to are affordable AMOLED screens at 1440p/144Hz. No more LCD blacks will be incredibly based.

>duuude just buy the latest technology and don't use it
Peak consoomer

Indies, older AAAs, etc. I'm sure games like Hollow Knight or P4G will look amazing on 4K144.

32" 4K is still higher than 24" 1440p in terms of PPI.

And most of all, 4K is not a meme. With how shit most games's AA solutions are nowadays, the best method to eliminate aliasing is pure resolution. I don't want any of that TAA or FXAA blurfest garbage. Of course 4K144 just isn't feasible right now, but like all tech it'll eventually come down.

Not even that guy but it's plain to see. New games will still have the PS4 and XBone as the lowest common denominators.

and instead get shit-tier black response times so it looks like smearing.
