>Speedrun glitch-warping into the credits still means it's a legitimate completion of the game. It doesn't matter if you didn't kill the final boss or not, as intended by the developer

wait you actually care enough about speedrunning to make a post about it?

That's great and all but if you're not meeting the final condition of the game by any means then you might as well just be loading a completed save and calling that a speedrun.

>Play game normally
>Encounter a glitch
>LOL U CANT PLAY LEGIT NOW THIS IS CHEATED

>loading a completed save
vs
>executing an extremely precise memory edit using in-game inputs
you really can't tell the difference?

There are warpless or glitchless runs as well.
I dont get the babbies crying about glitchless runs.

Yes.

Loading a save is just another form of editing memory values. Dealing the final blow to a boss is the true end goal.

>another form
so you're saying there's a difference. glad we're on the same page.

Nobody gives a shit about your opinion of what the "true end goal" is. The end goal of any% is getting to the credits as fast as possible. If you don't like that, don't watch them retard.

Speedrunning was cool when there were only a few good games worth running. Now there are too many games and too many different rules. If your speedrunning record is not in Mario 64 it basically doesn't count.

Not having reading comprehension is just another form of living in a third world country.

lots of games have credits on the start screen, Far Cry 4 had credits within the first 10 minutes...

I legitimately can't tell at this point if you were just pretending to be stupid or if you actually believe loading a save is the same as a credits warp.

who gives a shit you fucking autists

>lots of games have credits on the start screen, Far Cry 4 had credits within the first 10 minutes...
and lots of games have credits at the end. the goal for speedrunning is to get to the latter.

Should've built a fence.

You physically can't run Far Cry 4's first 10 minute end game credit screen any faster than another player though

>game has a secret ending you can beat in the prologue
>still plays the normal credits

Guess there's no reason to play the rest of the game then

>Guess there's no reason to play the rest of the game then
there are other categories. how new are you?

>I WATCHED A RUN THAT HAS RULES I DON'T LIKE AND NOW I'M MAD
>HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO ME?

kay sure but don't call yours any% if I can get to the credits faster in the prologue

you're retarded, aren't you?

>anons fail to understand categories
Shouldn't autism make it easier to grasp though?

That isn't what "another form" means.

>expecting a subgroup inundated with trannies to detect bullshit

How many catagories are you going to have in a game like Far Cry? There are so many game releases every year why does Far Cry 4 get more than one catagory? Might as well give everyone a speed running record if you are going to invent categories

>hurr durr i'm going to add a catogory to this niche game 5 years after it came out so I can get a record, the real speedrun is too hard for me because I am a big baby.

There's a glitchless category

People redefine glitch all the time just to suit their needs though.

news flash nigger, speedrunning is about fun, plenty of people don't like doing speedrun strategies that either aren't fun to execute or aren't fun to watch, see goldeneye 64 lookdown strats, everyone agreed it was faster but it made the run many times worse to play and watch so everyone agreed to just not bother doing it
being able to input a series of button presses in the main menu that instantly glitch you to the credits, while being technically impressive, isn't, on the surface, interesting to the runner or the viewer
hell, there's a run on tasarchives of SMB3 that is like less than a millisecond long because it buffers a fuckton of button inputs while exploiting a hardware-level exploit in the NES to instantly warp to the credits, and there were massive walls of text written in favor and against considering it a legit run, just because of how much it strained the limits of actual speedrunning, both as a technical/mechanical skill and a spectator sport
credits-warping can be both mechanically impressive and enjoyable to watch, in the case of SMW or gen1 pokemon games, and that's really what matters most when you start doing shit that really pushes the boundries of definitions

>speedrunning is about fun

It is pretty hard to have a clear definition for all games because it boils down to understand whether you are exploiting the game or just doing something devs didn't really expect you to do.

then take the record from them if you care so much about it retard
